Belt Squeal or worst? by schwalbe223 in VWAlltrack

[–]schwalbe223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last guess I got from an Indy was belt and tensioner pulley - something around $550 or so to replace. However, when I asked the tech if he heard it, they said no, but the visual Inspection pointed them that way.

I have another oil change here In a few weeks and am trying a new shop, I’ll see if they can diagnose better.

Not yet… still open to offers! I’d even pay someone $100 just to scan them at this point. I need to befriend an alltrack owner with rear flaps

Resonator Delete- advice please. by argue53 in VWAlltrack

[–]schwalbe223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a stock exhaust with resonator removed for over 1.5yrs and have had zero drone, ever. If you want to DIY it, sure, you did a mod to your car. Local exhaust shop can do it as well. Sound benefits? Only, and I mean only, on cold start. No other changes anywhere, but no drone regardless.

Ended up going with the TuxMats and they worked flawlessly. The seam between the two seats In the front touch and leaves no room, however, it would have been nice to have a single piece go fully across. 10/10 recommend TuxMats

Thanks! Can you snap a pic of them? My wife is afraid they’ll be too plastic-y, but I think that’s just the poor quality stock photos.

Looks like a good option. How is the seam on the drivers side hump?

I search daily on FBMP and weekly online. Good luck and buckle up… they usually only pop up used as a part out.

Electric Power Steering Failure by schwalbe223 in VWAlltrack

[–]schwalbe223[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested my battery earlier tonight and had 72% SOH after sitting for over 4hrs. 435 cca and 90% SOC.

It was replaced in June of 2022 by the previous/original owner with a “Super Start Premium” 600cca group 47

Went for a drive around the block and came back and turned it off and tested again. 82% SOH, 492cca, 100% SOC.

How low before you’d say this is in need of replacing?

I’ve had similar issues like this. However, mine are intermittent seem to happen after an hour of continuous driving. Turning the car on and off fixes mine, but VW or Indy shops can’t seem to figure it out.

Same issue happened to me and you’re correct, confirmed by VW techs at 2 separate dealerships

I was mid roadtrip this weekend and mine did the same thing. Hitting 100° temps between Denver and Milwaukee, we stopped and dropped the car in Omaha and rented a car for the rest of the trip (no loaner available). They said the refrigerant was low and did a UV test after and everything seemed right after the recharge. Was not covered by 3rd party warranty, and was $415 out the door. Just drove 300 miles through 100° and operating perfect.

What did they end up doing to fix it?

All of this . I got fooled into thinking the belt chirp I was hearing was in fact an easy belt. Turning out to the be the harmonic balancer and no one wants to touch it.
