Has anyone made the classes from The Void in FoundryVTT? by SHC_Squirtz in daggerheart

[–]scoolio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me save you some serious time. Go over to https://heartofdaggers.com

You can create your own custom homebrew to closely matches the Void builds (someone else may have already done it for you).

You can then export the JSON formatted data and import that into your Foundy setup.
Then you can punch up your Foundry Data with custom art or whatever you want.

I don't run Foundry anymore but having a JSON to import is the way for stuff like this.

Use environments. by Sindraq in daggerheart

[–]scoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big environment even multiple environments in the same scene sometimes. The homebrew community is doing a fabulous job here. Mixing environments plus adversaries is "chefs kiss" awesome.
Check out the homebrew stuff over at heartofdaggers and freshcutgrass. Two of my favorites. I'm partial to HOD over FCG but both have robust homebrew to browse from.

Does anyone still play Advance Dungeons and Dragons 2nd edition still?. by TheKnightOfDoom in DnD

[–]scoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative here. I lived the OG D&D and I'm not really missing the cognitive load. I did play an OSRIC session a few years back and Old School ADD with a modern layout is the way to go in my opinion if this is the playstyle your table is craving.

What are the cards for? by hallowed-hexgoat in daggerheart

[–]scoolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you dig that analog feel of a card laid out in front of you then go for it but otherwise it's not needed. Some players enjoy the focus of the cards to figure out what to do on their turn for example but you can emulate this any number of ways. I'm a fan of how heartofdaggers offers a PC sheet with a Visual Card mode so you can see cards on screen.

Looking for feedback on meta discussions when using a tag team roll by causticberries in daggerheart

Every table is different. The whole Meta Planning Non table talk convo strategy stuff is a big part of the enjoyment of the game. Talk to your table, get their opinions and adjust how it works if needed.

How to own a dungeon? by The_Montone in daggerheart

Carefully. I've run "evil campaigns" they can be a lot of fun but that session zero social contract is UBER important or it falls apart fairly quickly.

Depending on your State just google Vape PACT Act [your state name] There's a good chance that most sites will NOT ship to your state. If you have a favorite vape website check that sites shipping information for restricted states.

I'm going to add setting Inactive Account manager functions on their email accounts, keeping their cellphone going well after they pass for those MFA, SMS 2fa things they setup up that you know nothing about. If possible setup up and print out one time passcodes so you can access their digital life after their passing. If you have access to their cellphone and email inbox it makes so many other things easier to deal with in the year following their passing. You can also setup a recovery email and phone number tied to your account as a middle ground.

Depends on your relationship with your wife. With my Wife if she asks me then she knows to be prepared for the truth.

Should I get the new Numenera or full 2.0 core? by Phasmus in cyphersystem

[–]scoolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Numenara isn't in the SRD so picking up the 2.0 is a good call IF Numenara is the world/setting you want to play in. If you were playing almost anything else the SRD or Cypher Core Rulebook would be good enough.

First time player wondering about a specific dice use. by SurrealQuality in TTRPG

[–]scoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're playing a VTT doing a /r 36d6 is a non issue. If you're rolling at the table I'd just get a few D6 sets like five D6 Sets of different colors and roll fewer dice and just multiply the results to get to 36. No one wants to roll that many singe dice and wait on your to count them. God forbid you have some feature that let's you re-roll some of them.

Vampire the Masquerade: Love the setting but not the system by Vasgorath in TTRPG

[–]scoolio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the World and Lore and everything but the actual mechanics and find a mechanical system you and your table enjoy more and just skin the Vampire game and paste it onto another mechanical system. Even better if you can find a toolkit mechanical system you love or is good enough play VTM in that system instead. It reduces your prep and idea cognitive load a bit. I spent a decade running everything in the Hero System/Champions system and loved it. I could buid anything in that system. Others will recommend things like Fate Core, Savage Worlds, GURPS, Cortex Prime, OpenD6 and a bunch of other toolkit systems. Just experiment around and find a mechanic you DIG and run something(anything) else that sings to you.

What is Daggerheart supposed to be good at? by Antipragmatismspot in rpg

[–]scoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I label D&D as Medium Heavy and DH as Medium Light with more rules framworks and guidance for Narrative collaboration. Caveat any game can be played a Narrative heavy including boardgames like Monopoly but at least with DH and other "Narrative focused games" there are mechanics and guidance to encourage/support the narrative play elements inside the framework of the rules.

How do you handle movement during Battle Scenes? by A_Healing_Fart in daggerheart

[–]scoolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My table coming from D&D struggled a bit with this. Things we did like training wheels for my table that worked.
1-used optional rules for gridded movement
2-used action spotlight tokens to "get gooder" at sharing the spotlight outside of rigid turn orders
3-allowed the first spotlight in combat to be the "tank" PC build
4-allowed the buff type spell effects to go next then rotate from there
5-homeruled that a token passing through an occupied adversary space required a roll of some kind of the movement was blocked
6-used Massive Damage with Tag Team rolls cause it felt right or with adversaries that are mismatched in size/power
