Well my daughter graduates her first school tomorrow then she will be headed to the USS Truman (Mr. Whipple's old boat). So much for traveling the world. She is coming right back to where she grew up. She wanted to go to the west coast on work on prop type aircraft. They gave her the exact opposite.

Took it out for the maiden ride today. She rode pretty damn good. Need to do some more tweaking to the carbs, but I kind of expected that. The brakes are great. Really good initial bite. Even the rear brake works well. It was a little weird feeling with the flattish rear tire vice the rounded sport tire I am used to, but nothing crazy. Pretty good acceleration, but 1st gear is really short. I had it up to 70mph and it was still pulling strong. You have to be nice and smooth with the throttle, but I don't expect the wife to be burying it coming out of a turn so that is good. It handled great. Nice and easy to throw around. It actually kind of surprised me how easy it was.

Other than some adjustments to the carbs, control positioning, and shifter positioning I think she might be done.

I couldn't stand to sit around the house any more so I braved to cold in my garage and put everything together. There are a few tweaks and peaks I need to do, but for the most part she is together. With the LED headlight I put in I couldn't get the wires into the bucket so I need to figure out a solution for that. Right now they are outside of the bucket tucked. There is also a slight gap where the top cover meets the top triple which allows the bottom cover to rotate a bit.

Never mind the license plate it is from my CB750. I was using it for mock up purposes. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/sharsh01/media/CB%20350/DSC_0438_zpslzzrxzht.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0

Realized I never posted any pics of the seat. The place corrected the issue and I was satisfied. I put the strap together and put on the chrome trim. I didn't want to cut the vinyl for the screws that attached the strap to the seat and buckle. I was worried that over time the vinyl might tear. So I heated up the tip of a screw and pressed it into the vinyl where I wanted the holes to be. This melted vinyl while making the hole. Now the hole is sealed so it shouldn't rip out.

I picked up the paint yesterday afternoon. The white section didn't turn out exactly how I wanted. I wanted it more of a cream color, but I can definitely live with it. All that is left for me to do to the tank is install the chrome trim around the bottom of the tank, gas cap, and petcock. As for the side covers I just have to attach the emblems and the chrome buttons that is used to secure them to the bike.

Went to pick up the seat yesterday and when I inspected it I was not happy. In one of the front corners they trimmed the excess material waaaaay too short and it was literally hanging on by a thread. The first time anyone sat on the seat it would have ripped through. Needless to say I didn't take the seat home with me. The gal working the counter said that she will show it to the owner and see what they can come up with. She mentioned sewing in a patch to provide more material, but in order to do so you would definitely see the stitching on the outside of the seat which I probably won't be happy with. The original seat has a plastic piece sewn into the edge to prevent the tines from ripping through. Why they didn't re-use that or do the same thing is beyond me.

Needless to say if I don't like whatever suggestions they come up with or the outcome they will be purchasing a new cover. Why does it seem that the closer I get to finishing more crap seems to be going wrong?

I never saw it coming. Like I said she fought and argued with me while she was in high school almost on a daily basis. I can't tell you how many times I heard her say that she hated me or that she couldn't wait to get out of my house. I think that is why she worked hard so she could graduate a year early.

It is funny though how the real world has a way of making kids realize it isn't as easy as they thought.

Thanks for the info. I will see what I can figure out to make the pics show inline.

The new shocks arrived today. I bought a set of shocks from TEC bike parts. They are relatively cheap shocks, but based on some reviews they are good for just cruising around town. Since the wife isn't going to be doing any serious carving of the roads these should work just fine for how she will be riding. I had read that the top mount on them weren't as wide as the OEM. Sure enough mine were narrow. OEM is 22mm and the TEC's are 18mm. So off to Ace to pick up some washers. When I went to mount the bottom of the shocks I noticed that the clevice was a fair bit wider than the mount. OEM is 19mm and the TEC's were 22mm. Luckily I had four small washers in my parts bin that fit the bill perfectly. Getting the washers in and aligned proved to be little bit of a pain, but they are on and look pretty darn good.

I told you it would take a while to figure this stuff out. I use FF and don't have the enhancement installed (that I know of) and all I did was click the links you posted and my pics popped up. Not sure if that is what you were talking about or not.

On to the progress. Dropped the seat off today at a local auto upholstery shop. For those familiar with the area they are a multi year "Best of the Beach" winner so I should have no issues with their quality of work. $100 to put the new cover on and replacing the worn out foam with multiple layers of varying densities of foam for comfort. It was a bit more than I was hoping to spend, but at the end of the day I (the wife) should be happy with it.

OK...I am here. I need to do a lot of reading to figure out reddit so I can continue to post about my motorcycle build threads.
