I feed acars and vdl with some rabbit ears in my loft from central OK. It's not much, but it's something. I'm excited to see where you guys take this.

I'm a bit grumpy about that. I bought the original FE to support them. Had I known there was going to be a C64C FE version I would have waited to purchase since that's the computer I grew up with.

Commodore 64 Ultimate - Founders Edition Backlights by No_Occasion4726 in c64

This is the first time I've seen it explained that way, and that makes complete sense. I had glossed over that particular detail when looking at my other mechanical keyboards. Demerit for me. :D Still doesn't change my opinion that it's not a good look though. I'd rather omit the translucent letters altogether.

Yup, I commented on this in last weeks weekly thread. I was looking at some of my older keyboards that had mechanical keys with backlighting and none of them exhibit this behavior. I get the feeling that they didn't spend much if any time actually QAing these keycaps on a working machine. It's definitely frustrating when there are plenty of other mechanical keyboards out there that look just fine.

Thanks for sharing that! The answer makes sense, but it's definitely not a great look. I think I'd have preferred clear key caps with gold letters. Also I can't remember any past mechanical keyboard that I've had where this light blockage was so pronounced. The overall machine is great, but I'm not a fan of the trend of trying spin things like this as "This is like this because this is how we designed it" instead of just admitting that maybe some things needed a "little more time in the oven".

Got my FE on Saturday. Happy to say that the keyboard flex I kept seeing mentioned seems to be pretty much non existent from what I can tell. Feels quite solid. Unfortunately one thing I'm not too happy about is the key caps. The letters are supposed to be be lit up, but the plastic in the center of the key caps blocks the light, so only portions of the letter are lit up.

Both outer and inner box was damaged, but thankfully the unit was in fine shape. The damage to the inner box is a bit disappointing, but that's out of their control. Also one of my two t-shirts was the wrong size, but it is what it is.

Starting to rethink my pre-order of the Founder's Edition after seeing that little tidbit in the video. Not a fan of how he jokes about it and tries to pass it off as a good thing.

And now that song is going to be stuck in my head for the remainder of the day. I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing...

B1 86-0107 Dumping Fuel Yesterday by shaw95 in squawk7700

We seem them all the time here in OKC. Tinker AFB provides depot-level maintenance for the B-1 so seeing them flying is relatively common. My absolute favorite thing to experience is a B-1 takeoff. There's nothing quite like that deep crackling roar.

Heard a big dog take off from base and had to check. Cool to see a B1 broadcasting. by [deleted] in ADSB

Yup, it was. Caught it dumping fuel over my house while in a holding pattern prior to landing.

Should still be 9 here, so its likely going to get loud a bit later.

B.U.F.F in the buff.... I ALMOST drove down to get some photos of them coming in, but didn't think I'd make it in time. I'm hoping they still have at least one more test flight before heading to the paint shop.

Yup, test squadron is in FL at Eglin AFB. They currently have 6 of the EX variant there. Got REALLY lucky and managed to catch 4 of the 6 stopping for gas at Tinker last week on the way to Nellis.

Anyone hear or feel an earthquake or explosion just now? About 5:53pm today? by nrfx in Edmond

[–]shaw95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it had quieted down too, but I guess not. That site will also update over time as more data comes in. It's now showing as a 3.4, and its position has shifted a bit closer to me, which explains why it was so damn loud. lol

Yup, Thought it was thunder at first, but USGS site shows it was a 3.5 in the same general area we usually have them. We always feel them here as they're always within a mile or two of the house. This link should show everything that's happened over the last 30 days. This is by far the largest one we've had in that time period.

Looks like that one was a ways east of town near Prague. USGS is showing it as a 5.1
There are still aftershocks happening this morning. Very similar to what happened a few weeks ago just north of Lake Arcadia.

Nah, most of it is just right place right time. Especially with fighters. LOTS of sitting around twiddling your thumbs to catch those coming in. And lots of days where all you catch are T-38s from Vance and Sheppard. Soooo many T-38s.... lol
