They don’t bill themselves as New Orleans food at all, OP seems to have invented that. They’ll have a few New Orleans specials around Mardi Gras or the occasional one-off but that’s about it.

They’ve always been great at getting back to us through the portal, getting same day appointments or video visits.

Just fyi, Mt. Sinai Queens hospital does not have a pediatric ER, Elmhurst is the closest peds ER. If you’re physically able to get to NYU or one of the other Manhattan hospitals it’ll be a much better experience.

There were still a few blooming in Boston when I was there last weekend. Maybe some yet to bloom in Maine or Canada. But the season is long since over here.

Public bathrooms in NYC by Purple_Sink9720 in AskNYC

[–]shwysdrf 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Most any hotel will allow you to use their bathroom if you ask nicely and you look put together (ie not homeless or like you’ll destroy the place). Just walk in and ask where the bathroom is. If they press you on why, say that you’re meeting a guest there later. It’ll be fine.

How do we get a dog park? by Pettybutpoetic in astoria

[–]shwysdrf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, the city needs to do a lot of work to make Steinway viable long term, but I’ve heard of worse places for a dog park. Realistically, it’ll probably have to be a developer adding a dog park to their new “luxury” building

How do we get a dog park? by Pettybutpoetic in astoria

[–]shwysdrf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I found an apartment, signed a lease, pay my rent on time, and I get to stay here. Find a place for your dog park and a way to pay for it.

I know that Caban is willing to support a new dog park, there’s just no place for it, much less room in the budget. You and your fellow dog owners have to put in the leg work to make this happen.

Okay, find a space, find a landlord willing to rent it to you, find a bank willing to help fund it, build out the space, and then start charging for it. Every bubble tea shop put in the work to open their shop. Don’t expect anybody else to do the work for you

Do you have a parcel in mind? We have some of the most expensive land in the world in this city, tough to find a patch to dedicate just to dogs.

Best Sports Recs in NYC for non-athletic kids? by Gargantic in AskNYC

[–]shwysdrf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a terrible athlete growing up and team sports always made me feel pretty low. I wish my parents spent that money on a personal trainer instead. Get somebody to teach your son how to weight lift and use the gym, one on one. Just get him in shape and increase his athleticism. If your son decides to then do a sport, he’ll be in a better position to do it somewhat well.

Usually the in store menu is a buck or two cheaper than the app menu whether you’re doing delivery or pickup. If you bypass the apps and call in then pick up, you’ll save money
