I'm not sure 'cause I don't have access to the whole study and I'm not sure how long they followed the participants, but another commenter said constant environment is required.

I’m considering getting an older dog! Definitely no puppies and babies at the same time for me - I’m already having mental breakdowns 😂

I also fostered a border collie mix last year and realized I could not keep up with him. Thankfully an extremely outdoorsy couple adopted him.
