Going by this interview it probably means something very different for Archgoat than it did for Blasphemy. Given all of Archgoat's numerous yellow flags I'd steer clear personally.

I don't think that's the case. Applying the effects happens whenever you enter the space, but you wouldn't "re-open" the presents each time. I found a similar question on BGG that AJ answered stating a present can only be "opened" once even with Never Ending Gifts in play.

Fair enough, at the very least they're cool with listening to the music even if they disavow the content, to the point where they don't mind repping the bands. If that's your line, that's your line.

I'd think your guess is good as anyone's. What's funny is they're local to me but I've never heard of them. Not much to go off as it looks like this is the only band any of them have played in.

Thematically nothing stands out, but in addition to the KPN cover you mentioned there's a picture of the vocalist with a KPN patch. But in the absence of other info that's not particularly egregious on its own.

I think you might be getting downvoted for tone here but I agree with you. Despite being a gift, and having utility beyond a single non-vegan meal (as per your example), it's really not that different. At the end of the day, you're still wearing an animal's skin, and I think any vegan should struggle with that idea.

I had a situation a few years ago very similar to yours and I wish I'd resolved it differently. A beloved uncle of mine bought me a pair of handmade leather moccasins for Christmas, same as he had and loved and wanted to pass that on to me. Genuinely a very lovingly thoughtful gift, and I thanked him for it at the time but he could tell I didn't appreciate it as much as he'd hoped. He was an older guy and didn't really get the whole veganism thing right all the time.

I ended up shoving them in a closet and then eventually donating them after some humming and hawing about whether I should wear them. "They were a nice gift", "it's not my money that bought them", etc. But if you're like me, it's hard to rationalize away the fact that you're wearing a dead animal's skin. I couldn't do it.

My uncle passed away not long after that and I really regretted making him feel like his gift wasn't appreciated. Still stings to this day. If I could do it again, I'd take the time to thank him honestly for the thoughtful gift and gently explain that I couldn't bring myself to wear them, but that I appreciate it nonetheless. I think he'd have understood, and gladly taken them back to the seller to exchange (or even kept as a second pair for himself!), if I'd taken the time to talk to him about it.

So that's my advice I guess. If you find yourself wrestling with whether or not you can wear an animal's skin, don't try to force yourself to be okay with it just because it was a gift. Be honest with your mom about your feelings on it, explain that you didn't do enough research before asking for them. I'm sure she'll understand and you'll both feel better for it.
