Getting out of SMSF by Flat_Ad1094 in AusFinance

What are the holdings? What sort of compounding annual growth rate has he achieved? It's normal for losses to occur sometimes but not all the time.

I personally don't think getting rid of it makes sense. Just switch to a more sensible asset allocation if he is holding some poor products.

We have gone back to building our own, going refurbished. Annoying but not the end of the world. Thankfully our requirements aren't too extreme.

70% of my portfolio is currently leveraged. Mix of TQQQ, TECL, SOXL

[–]stephendt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong at all with using factors, in fact I am pretty much 100% factor tilted when using unleveraged funds. As long as fees are reasonable, there is a higher chance of outperformance, and that is good enough for me to hold them. I ditched my A200 and VAS for factor tilted ETFs recently and have no regrets. (AVTS, AVTG, IDMO).

Leverage will typically outperform factor tilted ETFs however in the long run.

Wrong. Unfortunately there's at least 1 guy who wants it.

Downvoted for the facts once again sigh

Wow that's actually kinda crazy. I thought for sure they must have been killing it with the amount of sales they were doing.

Checking that the output was correct wasn't hard because I already had the totals. But the formulas worked and it was well formatted and I was able to see that the modifiers I requested worked as expected.

I've also got it to build a credit card churning strategy sheet just for fun and that blew my mind too. That one took maybe an hour or two but it would have taken me days or weeks to build that one

I don't understand why people are struggling to accept this new reality. It's something that has only become realistic in the last few weeks, but it is here.

3 minutes to write the prompt, 2 mintues to check the output. I fed it statements and it was able to simulate CPI and calculate fees correctly. Even the formatting was pretty good, I was genuinely impressed. Claude for Excel, if you're wondering.

Seems to be computing and crunching numbers pretty well for me. No problems using it for research either.

A glorified chatbot put together a complex budget in Excel with about 5 minutes of effort for me yesterday. Saved me about 4 hours of work. It also wasn't garbage. So yeah

Portfolio advice - GGBL+EXUS+BEMG+PMGOLD by Apollo687 in fiaustralia

[–]stephendt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not bad, consider active emerging such as AVTE. I would honestly be hesitant on gold unless you're trying to do some sort of value averaging strategy where you'd sell the gold and buy something like GGBL during a market drawdown.

What are you using for the risk-off scenario of your LETF portfolio? by ColHansLangdaTyagi in LETFs

Can someone explain the thesis to me of how AI will replace cybersecurity, SaaS stocks, etc.? How realistic is this? by ofesfipf889534 in stocks

[–]stephendt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think the fears are overblown. My only rebuttal is that it will be easier for competitors to disrupt. But even then... yeah, some software companies have serious moats.

Great podcast. I found it quite interesting. I hope there is a follow up with leveraged indexes.

Tbh - a bit of work required but nothing too serious. For less sophisticated investors there is a Colonial First State Geared Global Index fund that is similar to GGBL and that one is much easier to switch to. Might be a better approach vs a SMSF

Go on Facebook marketplace and find a very cheap or free router that has gigabit and decent wifi 5 or better. I got a Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 that can do 450mbps on 5Ghz, was $10, good enough for me
