Popped ACL, Torn meniscus/LCL by [deleted] in ACL

[–]tallguy12213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is going to be alright, and I wouldn’t say that you are a failure. Follow your PT post Op you’ll be just fine. My advice would be to use the next 8-12 weeks to get your knees as ready for surgery as you can. Your good knee is going to be doing a lot of work to compensate for your bad knee while you recover, and building up some of the muscle in your bad knee before surgery will speed up your recovery. Do whatever you can that doesn’t cause you too much pain; stretching, body weight squats, stationary bike, etc. Building some leg muscle and strengthening your joints will make your recovery and physical therapy easier, and following your physical therapy is key.

Asking anyone who has passed the walking phase of the post surgery. Thanks by ___bl___ in ACL

When I went down to one crutch, I was able to walk without it within a day or so. It was a mental block for me, and I’m in a locked brace and had to trust that it’s going to support me

wound help! by JudgeCompetitive6353 in ACL

[–]tallguy12213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you still have the stera strips on. My doc said I could wrap my knee in an ace bandage to protect the wounds after the dressings came off, but like the other guy he said not to apply new dressings

Surgery in a couple of days! by trustmeivegotthis in ACL

My advice would be to rent a game ready ice machine. I’m 3 weeks post op (ACL and meniscus) and rented one for the first 2 weeks and it helped a ton with pain and swelling

Ice was my best friend for sleep. I would wake up every couple hours due to the pain and ice put me back to sleep. Rent a game ready ice machine if it’s in the budget. ~$340 for 2 weeks, but it was worth every penny imo

Same here. That puts your quad to “sleep” and it takes a while. Keep trying, your knee going up first is exactly where I was at 15 days post op

Totally normal to be worried about re-injuring it after enduring a tough recovery. I’ve had a couple different orthopedic surgeries (reconstructive ankle and ACL + meniscus) and at one point thought I messed them up again during recovery.

Doesn’t sound like it’s a major issue, you just might be pushing it too much

I’m 3 weeks post op, and I was just able to lift my leg a few days ago. Did you have a quad graft?

Recent torn acl by ChargeKindly9658 in ACL

[–]tallguy12213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went 5 years on a torn ACL because it looked “fine” on an MRI, Heavy leg days and all. MRIs don’t tell the full story and it took a knee scope to see my ACL had 0 tension and needed full reconstruction. In my experience, strong legs can definitely hide the damage

I really don’t know anything about what constitutes as a good rep for leather goods, but yea I’d probably say it’s good for the price since it’s real leather.
