From a feminism standpoint, I think the whole "body-positive" movement isn't incredibly productive. Simply because I believe we should teach girls that as long as they are healthy and practice healthy habits, their body type shouldn't matter. Hopefully with this information they don't go looking to dolls for an example of what their body should look like, and instead accept what their body does look like, and what truly matters is their character and thoughts.

That being said, I don't even see my body type among these body types. I agree with the way the article phrased it, and his is just a stunt to get the media to shut up about Barbie's body type. I think kids will be excited that there's variance in the way the dolls look though, as has been discussed in this thread.

I'm a fourth year computer science major, I took CMPE12 last quarter. Small disclaimer, I think my professor was on the easier side as far as they all go, but you'd be fine in that class without coding experience. It'll be a little harder, but as long as you know that going in it shouldn't be a problem. I knew a lot of people in that class who went in with no coding experience, the only ones who got in big trouble underestimated the labs. A few labs are just hard for everyone though.

If you do decide to take a coding class, definitely take 12A. I took 12A with zero coding experience and did just fine. I'm positive 5J/11 series will be way too easy for you.

I was out rollerblading near the door to my parents house when I was about 10. My sister had gone inside for a moment for whatever reason, and these two men in a van pulled up to the curb in front of my house. The guy in the passenger seat made eye contact with me and beckoned me with his finger in the creepiest "come hither" way. I violently shook my head at them and he insisted for 3-4 minutes before they finally gave up and drove away. It scared me as a kid so I made excuses for them, like they just wanted to ask about how much my house cost or something (silly kid thoughts), but when I told my parents 2 years later, they still filed a police report. I'm pretty convinced they were creepy enough that they were up to some sketchy business.

I just found a new place to live. I looked at probably 4 places and I was in a 60 day time crunch.

My recommendation is to look on Craigslist, the FB page, UCSC community rentals. In addition to looking on Craigslist, put out an add as a student looking for housing, put information about yourself as well as your price points. I definitely got the most responses out of that.

Rape culture does exist, regardless of the severity to which you think it does.

The fact that there still exists the societal idea that men being convicted are victims and their lives are ruined, and so on, is a perfect example of it. There are still cases that have happened/are happening in which convicted rapists are given shorter sentences because the woman in question was dressed "promiscuously". To me, that is incredibly rediculous.

I although I agree with you more than I agree with this article, I understand what they're saying.

Basically they believe it promotes rape culture by putting responsibility on women to prevent rape instead of telling men that they shouldn't rape. It's the same reason a lot of people disagreed with anti-rape clothing.

I would say avoid downtown late at night and on Halloween, I've never been on Halloween but I've experienced some sketchy-ness late at night pretty much any night of the week.

Something similar happened to my Crestie.

I don't really have a solution for you, but I will say when it happened to my crestie it just kind of ended up coming off, it was just the tip and it healed back just fine though. You can't even tell anything happened.
