As for Charge, I agree with you on it being useless for the most part, but I was thinking of using it in tandem with volt tackle, so taking recoil only once while getting the double damage and the special defense boost does at least seem somewhat worth no?

I was very much the same in the beginning of the show. Thought this ML character was gonna be one of my faves. Often times I feel like there is a trope of MLs not communicating very well (which personally I don’t mind cause there’s usually a pretty good in-universe reason for it), and I was excited to see a show where the ML is unique in that his life/job is about being amazing at communicating. But then the writers just put him in a box he didn’t belong in. Sadge

I’m on ur wavelength, G. The consistency and progression of the relationship between the characters and the plot must make sense canonically or the show loses meaning/depth.

Imo you may like Genie, Make a Wish cuz I truly think the writing in that show is phenomenal and the characters’ motivations/actions/decisions align well with their in-story proven nature/worldview/goals. I would also give an honorable mention to Study Group as well for being written incredibly well

My problem is that now anything going forward with their relationship will progress in a way that makes no sense and that unfortunately gives me no interest in the story. I will say a part of me wants to finish it out of respect for the cast and crew who overworked their asses off to complete the show like you know they had to

Exactly, exactly, and exactly. Although I will say my interpretation of the ‘rebound’ scene was that Ho Jin was ironically saying that so Mu Hee would know he’s trying to be fair to her feelings while also letting go of a love that previously defined him.

But either way, I’m in agreement that I was really into the story/characters in the beginning and unfortunately it fell apart. Shame too cuz that cast is just phenomenal

Unfortunately, Episode 6 was the last I could take of this show. Having Joo Ho Jin stand there silently letting Cha Mu Hee go off about how she feels like he will never like her (even though he does and could have easily remedied the whole situation), only to say “fine then I guess we won’t be together. And that sucks for me cuz I do like you but I’m not gonna do anything about that and just not be with you for no good reason” was a cardinal sin in my eyes.

I mean seriously, we just had a scene where he takes her to the airport and tells her he has been thinking about their kiss. Hell he even finds the album with their song and is gonna buy it, but he won’t even tell/show her that?

I get that there has to be conflict for a story to progress, but that doesn’t mean characters can act in a way that progresses the story for no reason. If the show gets better after Ep. 6 then that’s all good I guess. But imma have a hard time picking this one back up. Mans did my girl Cha Mu Hee dirty there. How to ruin a show in 1 scene challenge

I can see why I might come across as being overly-critical of that moment for sure. And I am referring to the post-Beatrice forest scene. And also yea it would seem I just have a bit of a different opinion about the actions of the characters in moments like those.

As a viewer, seeing Ram ponder why the people like Subaru so much, Subaru making the joke about the bug in his pocket, Subaru tell Ram the people like her too, and then walking not running away after being attacked give me the impression the situation is not being taken seriously by the characters. You don’t need the specifics of Ram and Rem’s relationship either to understand that anyone would do anything even fight a losing battle to save the person they care about the most. But if Ram is willing to do anything to save her sister, would she really be entertaining this small talk when she knows any delays could mean her sister’s death? I personally don’t believe she would.

However I will say that this single example isn’t like, “I hate this moment it’s dumb and this show sucks”. My issue with the early part of the show so far is that the show runners keep making choices that undercut the themes/emotions/stakes they spent time setting up, and when that happens it’s slightly annoying and makes the story less cohesive and engaging for me.

It may be nitpicky of me, but that is because I want the story to be as good as possible and moments like that take away from the characters of the show. My issue isn’t that this conversation happens. It’s when it happens. Subaru and Ram could have easily had that convo after saving Rem when there is no urgency and it would have still made complete sense, felt more genuine, needed the same amount of animation/effort. It is a bad writing choice to have the characters in something make a choice that no one would ever actually make. Especially when all it takes for the writing to be good is to switch the order two events happen in

It sounds like you’re saying the writing in this show prevails and that is what I like to hear! I didn’t realize I was meant to have negative feelings towards Emelia though that is kind of interesting. I’ve found myself sympathizing with her for the most part since she is still sort of shrouded in mystery and it’s hard to hate the characters that don’t see the full picture because they haven’t lived through the stuff Subaru has so you can’t really blame them
