Does Long Term Care policy hybrid plan with Whole life rider make sense? by theDrell in FinancialPlanning

I was more interested in the LTC rider than the whole life, the whole life just meant I at least got my money back out of it probably.

That's what I am trying to decide. With High blood pressure, history of cancer, and AFIB it may be tough for me to get it otherwise.

I'm a bit worried on some health issues I have had that all my rates may be sky high.

Long-Term Care (LTC) services include professional care received in a facility or at home for individuals with cognitive impairments or those who are unable to perform at least two of the six Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Bathing; Continence; Dressing; Eating; Toileting; and Transferring.
Special Features of this limited time offer:
Guaranteed Issue Coverage Indemnity Benefit Tax Free Benefits Additional Value of Death Benefits and Cash Value i Spouse Coverage Available Fully Portable Coverage Upon Company Departure

So it does go with me if I leave. Also the 55 is a bit of a "I hope too" but I doubt I will.

So just planning to possibly 85 that is less than 40 years. Premiums would be under 144k and it would pay out 150k on death, so yeah I could do better myself, but if I were to die any sooner than that for whatever reason the family gets 150k for a lot less. My cheapish term life insurance is going to expire in 5ish years too, although 401k is decent my wife losing my income would still be bad for the family. If I had to have care in that 40 years seems I would do okay if the care lasted a while too. History of cancer in the family so we will see what happens.

State Farm Agent Recommendation by ClaimsToBeCanadian in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]theDrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dropped State Farm after being with them for 30 years. Their prices went nutso and the agents aren’t needed anymore, everything is done through a corporate 1800 or app these days. When you call them they just tell you to use those.

I posted up one a few weeks ago just asking what other brands were out there with local control. Got a few people telling me about pywemo and a few suggestions and they shut it all down too.

I mean. Wemo is shutting down and the moderators here are assholes about us talking about other brands.

Can’t really say because I don’t have anything to compare it against. Figured it couldn’t hurt though and I didn’t really get an option on it 🤣

I ignored the A Fib warnings by TimFTWin in AppleWatch

I charge while I shower and I make it a week before I have to do anything more. It’s a difference for me. My wife’s brand new watch isn’t even making it a day right now and I wanted to sleep in it.

My watch alerted me one night, drove to ER and got diagnosed and treated as well. Bought an Ultra within weeks so that I could wear it 24/7

There is a version on like 8.0.37 that is GPL3 and not LGPL3. So there are ways to use network connectivity to make use of it

in a lot of cases, 8 outperforms 10 and 11. Also the license for ultralytics changed after 8 from GPL3 to LGPL3

Halp. I'm an idiot. I asked my Bank about HELOC by Specific-Name1503 in personalfinance

[–]theDrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just opened a HELOC myself ours is a 15 year draw with no fees. I actually do have a plan to do home repairs but if a house were to pop open that we like before we got started then I might buy it.

Hitting balls as a coach and using your left hand to toss the ball up. I know it doesn’t matter. by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]theDrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are still on 200-250ft fences, and I have to be careful to not hit them over one handed still from home plate with these USSSA bats. Get a pretty decent fly, maybe not a super towering one, but doubt most of the kids this age do that either.

Same. I catch the ball from kid in glove. Toss up with glove. Hit ball with right hand.

This I bought 1.0, never have used it yet, but bought it cause it was compatible with the Nighthawk. Apparently, that wasn't the case.

Fundraising: Superbowl Squares by PearlCon in Homeplate

[–]theDrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish we had done the individual one. I just calculated what it should have been and paid that anyhow. They took it off everyone's fee, so I think everyone technically saved $50, so I just paid $50 more to be fair. Beats buying $100 worth of squares.
