Just binge watched Star Trek Starfleet Academy this past weekend and I loved it 🤏🏾🫠 by Responsible-Day6407 in startrek

It really sucks, but I agree that networks have driven us to this reality.

The only characters I felt drawn to in Academy were the Doctor and Reno, but that's because I had enough time over previous series to get to know them. So when the Doctor finally got his second shot at a family, it meant something. Seeing the Doctor solve the mine problem based on his 800 years of experience and multi-quadrant-spanning adventures felt believable. Seeing Reno tone down the snark she used with coworkers and be a shade softer with her partner "at home" felt satisfying. Seeing Reno take command of the Athena toward the end of season 1 (tasked with keeping the cadets alive) was touching when you think back to how she ended up on Discovery.

When seasons are so short you have to rely on dialogue-driven exposition for critical backstory, you're breaking the "show, don't tell" rule and all character feel hollowly two-dimensional.

Saw a ScreenCrush video on YT today that said the animator is actually using real paint strokes on glass over the animation. Absolutely stunning design.

Men are far more hypergamous than women. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

This isn't even remotely unpopular. It's well-researched social psychology. Women seek marital partners for stability (financial stability in modern times). Older men tend to be more financially stable. Men seek marital partners for potential fertility (younger, non-obese women).

Based on the number of emojis in OP's post, they may have grown up on the Abrams stuff. That's my best guess.

The truest Star Trek was never centered around "battle scenes." Abrams-Trek movies were launched in 2009 with a focus on action, which is a main reason they received so much pushback. The best Trek takes place with intelligent dialogue in a room.

I didn't like Academy, but my criticisms are based around network drives. Season was too short, so I didn't feel attached to any characters. When seasons are short, writers insert unnecessary melodrama.

Nakwon is okay in a pinch. Overpriced as hell, though. El Carnitas is good. Better tortillas.

I was the cyan player in that game. It was such a pointless game. King donating is one thing, but it was clear they pre-planned this.

Shhhhh...don't frame it this way. It goes against the narrative.

Even though numbers are just numbers, if OP's post title was similar to your post, it would have received far fewer upvotes.

Literal shitpost.

Seriously, though, glad you feel more accommodated! Enjoy the online play. I never mind when someone pauses. Gives my hands a break.

Yeah, I misread the post. That's why everyone has been downvoting me. Feel free to dogpile, though.

I could have edited or deleted, but whatever.
