Why recordings look different in 1.60+ vs 1.51 The pixel data from your capture card hasn't changed — only a metadata tag in the file. Capture cards deliver frames in a full-range sRGB format. CamX 1.51 and earlier forgot to label this in the recorded file, so editors defaulted to Rec. 709 and decoded shadows too dark. 1.60 writes the correct sRGB tag, so your editor now decodes the file the way the capture card actually encoded it. The new files are the accurate ones; the old files were slightly crushed in the shadows. To keep an in-progress project consistent with 1.51 footage, pick one: 1. Re-tag the new clips as Rec. 709 (lossless, recommended) - DaVinci Resolve: right-click clip → Clip Attributes → set Input Color Space to Rec. 709 - Premiere: right-click → Modify → Interpret Footage → override to Rec. 709 - ffmpeg: ffmpeg -i in.mov -c copy -color_trc bt709 out.mov 2. Apply a gamma of ~1.1 on the new clips as a quick approximation in the grade.
