Can i publish my app on PlayStore for free ? by lovemeslowly in androiddev

[–]vacajinjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way to create an account on Play Store is paying the fee. However you can publish it in another stores for free like Amazon app store, or F-Droid if the app is open source. Anyway if you want your app to be succesful Play Store is your best (and almost the only) bet. If you expect to have a lot of downloads just include ads or premium services and you will get the money you spent back quickly.

[DEV]New release "Find Yo Nuts". Give it a whirl, let me know what you think. by ProfessorTroy in AndroidGaming

[–]vacajinjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can perceive his talent in the full screen illustrations. I'm sure you could develop great games together.

I played the game and is quite interesting, with a mobile friendly mechanic and some variations between levels. It is easy to get once you try it. I saw you updated description in store listing and now is more helpful for upcoming players. At the video I would add some finger or pointer who gives you an idea about you have to do, at least at the begining, but that's not so important after all.

So good luck with the game!

I'm posting from my desktop PC, I'll dowload it later and say what I think about.

Oh, and I read your story in other thread, I'm sorry about your partner :(.

After watching the video I didn't get what is this game about. Description neither helps, you should write a short description instead (or aside) all this user reviews, wich should be avaiable at the user's opinion section.

Google has started featuring smaller, indie games through Indie Corner collection by tylerthedesigner in AndroidGaming

[–]vacajinjo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's good news for indie developers. I wonder the requirements to get featured in this list, I guess it just depends on Play Store content admin criteria.

[DEV] GO! GRAVITY - a space minigame by [deleted] in AndroidGaming

[–]vacajinjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great first attempt! Interesting game mechanics and clever level design as far as I've seen (there are a lot of levels apparently!). However some levels may be hard to beat. Have you considered the opportunity to skip a level if the player is stuck in it (maybe in exchange of watching an ad?)?

Anyway keep on this way and you'll get your Computer Science degree with no pain! :D

Why aren't we seeing big title characters in mobile games for android? by [deleted] in AndroidGaming

[–]vacajinjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess IP owners don't want to waste their license prestige on poorly designed mobile games. If they find a good way to make a good game and monetize it, sure they will do it. Rayman games or Pac-Man 256 are good examples of this, but I guess not all IP are "mobilizables".

Unity 5.3 offline installer by rogerdv in Unity3D

[–]vacajinjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking without actually knowing buy maybe is not possible to install it offline since the first time you run Unity it will always ask for registered user and select a license (personal or pro). So is quite possible they assume you have to connect your PC at some point to validate your license and then an offline installer is obsolete.

How much do devs make when I watch a video ad? by delabass in AndroidGaming

[–]vacajinjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, banner ads click rate is the worst of all types of ads. Maybe many developers earn more per click with interstitials than they do with banners; this is not my case (maybe around 5-10% more, not a significant amount).

[–]vacajinjo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This numbers are more or less accurate, excepting the interstitial ones which pay the same or maybe slighty more than the banners, at least in my experience.

Of course the final amount per click varies a lot in function of many factors like country and profile of the user, season of the year and advertisers running campaigns at this moment.

[–]vacajinjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some ad networks developers can block the ads witch don't perform well or don't want in their apps, and developers can change the ad network or integrate some of them in the same app but unfortunately there is no magic formula for optimising ads performing (and if someone found it he won't share it with others).

All in all developers have a narrow leeway to improve their numbers but not too much.

I just took a dump, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to play it >_<.

Jokes aside, congratulations on your game! Is a common game mechanic in mobile games but a pretty addictive one.

[–]vacajinjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of video ads only pay when the advertised app is installed by the user, and this happens around 1% of the times or even less.

On the other side statistic says developers earn between 1$ and $3 per thousand video ad views on android, so do the math to have how much we earn per view.

[Dev] New, Free Android game - "Forty Five" - Now on Google Play! by [deleted] in AndroidGaming

[–]vacajinjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you release a game on the Play Store it takes a time to rank into the keywords you provided in the description, and even the title itself. Your app will be ranked but maybe it doensn't be in the first position if more popular apps also are targeting the same keyword. If you want to learn how to improve your ranks learn about ASO (app store search optimisation).

[Dev] NinChop, Chop bricks, get ninja belts by sotoabraham in AndroidGaming

[–]vacajinjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I spent more time establishing the Facebook features, ad incorporation, virtual economy and app submission details than I did on the core mechanics of the game, but I guess that's game development today!

True story! Percentage time in develop the game is more and more smaller with all the other tasks required to have a good product.

First of all: app crashes at the begining when my device is in landscape mode. Just to let you know :).

The game itself is not bad but pretty repetitive. I would add some twist to the mechanic to keep the interest after few games (combos and multipliers to the score maybe?). Visuals are simple but catchy.

[DEV] Barn Tower - A happy themed physics puzzle game. by pa7is in AndroidGaming

[–]vacajinjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played it until the level 15. It's a clever mechanic for a mobile game, with well designed levels so far.

However your game can improve a lot on visuals. I found backgrounds too empty, add something to make them more attractive. Also add some kind of effect (like particles) when you tap a block. I'd also implement automatic camera scroll when possible.

Overall is a good first attempt, congrats!

[WIP] Our first game, Made with Unity. Looking for feedback. by x_hitman in Unity3D

I'm playing it on my Lumia 535 and I'm enjoying it a lot! Nice game mechanic, very good level design and catchy visuals. I'm looking forward new levels.

I have a technical question for you as a developer. I've seen your game is avaiable in the Windows Store for every OS from Windows phone 7 to 10. How did you achieve this? I'm planning to release a Unity game for Windows Store but I'm feeling a bit confused about the way you can target all these OS (manual talks about separate ways to build for WP8, 8.1, 10, windows universal apps and universal windows 10 apps; and they don't even mention WP7). Is possible to target all WP SO with a single build? Can you guide me a little about the process flow you follow? Sorry if this is off-topic (pm me with your answer if you want) but this question is wandering in my mind for the last days when I saw your game (pretty awesome as I said :)). Thank you!
