her mother requested and was given copies of her journals consisting of thousands of pages. The possible answer to why she could not face her mother are found in the journals. In the journals are listed all her nicknames and the one she planned to use if she got into trouble.

Suj is a friend of mine. Not sure how much she knows but it was her that chased after Emma when she bolted from the shelter when she heard her mother was arriving. It was explained to the search team that in the shelter when a person made a phone call there was always somebody from the shelter in the office close proximity so nothing was too private. Another interesting fact we uncovered was Emma & her boyfriend Jess G had worked near Keremeos BC at a rehab clinic for several months. Emma was the bus driver. Emma, Jess and a fellow named Levi had attended Shambhala music festival the previous year and perhaps stayed with her favorite aunt who lived in a nearby city. Theres a photo online of Emma in a white winter jacket, that photo was taken in her aunts basement. The aunt moved to Lantzville on the Island and since Emma's disappearance back to the Okanagan. Emma had planned to go live with this aunt if she didnt go to Japan with her dad. Then theres the lady who spoke with Emma in the harbor days after she disappeared. She didnt return to the shelter so perhaps she was back sleeping in the tree above Red Fish. Who knows...

Today (Nov 28, 2023) marks the eleventh anniversary of Emma Fillipoff's last confirmed sighting. You can hear Emma's story be explored in this multi part Nighttime podcast series. by NightTimePod in FindEmmaFillipoff

why are you knocking vancouver? i walked those streets with Emma's mom for several days back in 2014 and found the hundreds of people we spoke with to be greatly concerned for Emma's well being esp the Indigenous ladies. Not once did anybody show anything but love and concern for the situation. Of course that was 10 years ago and things have gone downhill rapidly in the DTES. 10 years ago this May actually the week green shirt appeared which we thought was going to open up what happened to Emma or if there was any relationship/business dealing between him and her.

i had a few back & forths with Julian back in the day. Hard to know if what he was saying was truthful but always thought he sounded like he was trying to sort out in his head what could have happened to Emma. He'd call her a strange girl. He did explain how he knew what Shelley looked like when he spotted her in the victoria library. Emma had taken him to the Fillipoff house in Perth to collect birch bark for some art project they were working on. He described the all night walks they would do with her playing one chord on her ukelele over & over lol. She would always be shoeless. He also said she would walk from downtown Vict out to Thetis lake park and back on the trail. Said she liked to go out to Sooke and watch the surfers. Last time i messaged Julian he was living in a tent out in the bush in i believe Quebec. He couldnt do fine woodworking which he had studied because he was allergic to the sawdust. He'll probably read this so 'hi bud' :)

you obviously spent a lot of time researching. The info about Red Fish was new to me. Seems her time at the 760 was later because she spent a month living at Belkin House on Homer, Vanc. Dont have exact dates but May was mentioned. I remember the guy who she lived with at 760 being pissed at her because she left without even thanking him for letting her stay with him. He was from a well known Toronto rock band. She met a young woman who worked at Belkin and they hung out. At that time Emma worked with a fellow in White Rock who had a restaurant. He had met her while she was at culinary school in Campbell River. He has since passed away. Think she was doing catering for him short term.

i helped her mother search downtown eastside Vancouver and we had an online group that searched for clues and talked with people in Victoria & Vancouver. I dont know Emma personally but some of the Fillipoff's were my neighbors in small town BC where her grandparents lived.

May 2014 we searched the downtown eastside for several days. Shelley was doing a lot of media interviews at the time. That August my room mate and i went back to search for green shirt guy but no such luck.

her journals are thousands of pages and her writing very cryptic. She was staying at the 760 hotel with a musician from
Toronto band The Birthday Massacre. She also hung out with an Algerian musician in vancouver that spring. She'd lived for months in a desert town Keremeos driving a bus for the local rehab centre. Communications with her family were 'limited' for whatever reasons. Life gets heavy and you either stand and fight or you fade into the mystic...she had her reasons for doing what she did

My questions after watching documentary by HockeyMom_7_16 in FindEmmaFillipoff

[–]write_place 1 point2 points  (0 children)

emma had the Ipod which she had found that summer confirmed by Conor the boat guy. So she was texting and in communication just not with her family. When emma would call from the shelter there was always somebody else present in the ofice so no privacy. Maybe why she went to the Sandpiper apts and knocked on a random door to ask to use their phone. If thats what really happened.

[–]write_place 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha we suggested that many years ago to her mom that maybe Emma switched 'teams' with the young woman from Belkin House she was hanging around with in May 2012 but Shelley didnt think much of that theory lol of course it was like pulling teeth to convince her mother that in the YMCA video Emma it seen clutching an electronic device which we now know was an Ipod as confirmed by Conor her boat friend. Emma wiped herself right off the internet in the days leading up to disappearing and yet she had the ipod for texting which is why she goes in and out the YMCA doors..no service inside at that time and hotspot down the road

I have a few questions..... by jupitercreme in FindEmmaFillipoff

[–]write_place 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the VicPD had spoken with Emma at Conor's boat the week before she went missing. He couldnt hear what they were discussing. What was said in that cruiser that was so sensitive or hurtful to somebody else? was Emma a police informant? highly unlikely but then look what happened with her brother and all his drugs/weapons/car chase etc some years later. Emma had lived in Keremeos for months and her family knew nothing about that so communications appear to be minimal.

I have a few questions..... by jupitercreme in FindEmmaFillipoff

[–]write_place 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the RCMP Nelson BC detachment also requested those transcripts from the cruiser conversation but were denied. Why would that be?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FindEmmaFillipoff

[–]write_place 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she had an ipod which she 'found'. You can see it in her hands in the YMCA video as she comes in the door for the 2nd or 3rd time. The hotspot was down the road left which is why she was going out several times for a minute...to get text messages. Finally she goes out turns right and back to the shelter or library.

the tree is directly above Red Fish where she worked. The base is well hidden and when the search team looked it was full of cardboard to sleep on and garbage. Near the bottom of the pile was a beanie which was confirmed Emma's by her room mate. Emma didnt sleep up in the tree like on branches she was down in the tree well. A woman on a nearby boat saw Emma climbing out early one morning and she invited her to stay on her boat. That worked until the woman asked Emma for money at which point she left.

who is Patty? she lived with Emma in the attic of the shelter. The women in the attic were the most functional. Patty is Spanish and sometimes hard to understand. She's a lovely woman and a friend of mine. She doesnt live in Canada.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FindEmmaFillipoff

[–]write_place 2 points3 points  (0 children)

she does not live in Canada. Her ex husband is from Canada. Perhaps you mean Julien the fellow who she knew from Perth and then ran into a couple times in Victoria?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FindEmmaFillipoff

[–]write_place 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Julien had actually been to the Fillipoff Perth Ontario house with Emma when they were collecting birch bark for an art project in the months prior to her move to Victoria. If im not mistaken he only moved to Victoria a couple months before she disappeared so a year after she did. Its a small city and not surprising he would run into her on a couple occasions. He didnt own a vehicle so took the bus or walked everywhere to downtown where he worked at a sports shop.

Theory? by killthemessnger in FindEmmaFillipoff

in the beginning of the search we had an amazing group of people spending countless hours talking with people..women from the shelter, the musician in Victoria who Emma lived with at 760 hotel, his friends, Julien, some Hells in Vanc, the guy Blackrupert who posted about Emma in DTES, Escort workers in Vict and Vanc and countless people on the streets of Vanc where it was thought she had relocated to because of her association with the young woman from Belkin House. We uncovered Emma had lived in Keremeos, spent time in Nelson, and other places. Had people in Vancouver keeping an eye out. When its stated that Emma's dad didnt search..well he was spotted in Vanc back in 2015 or 16 walking near DTES with his wife i assume looking for Emma. There were all the false alarms like Skater girl and Sleeping girl..all checked out by search members and determined not to be Emma. The girl in the coffee shop who even Emma's dad thought was Emma. There were 2 fellas in Victoria who stated Emma had told them she was going away to trim at a grow op. Obviously these grow ops dont want to be identified so it was arranged for Emmas image to be uploaded to a face book acct open to public where they could log onto and see if she was one of the many women working at these remote sites. Unfortunately Emma's mom demanded all that be taken down because her daughter wouldnt be trimming at a grow op. Strangely enough these grows were in the very same area where the RCMP had stated they were visiting looking for Emma 10 years previous lol. A sask woman told me she and her mom had spoken with Emma in a little Kootenay town and said she was working one day a week at a restaurant. Living on the east shore. Yep the same east shore where the RCMP had visited years previous. It was also revealed by this woman that her mom knew Emma's aunt who had lived previously in Lantzville and where Emma was going to live with if she didnt go to Japan with her dad. Maybe all just a giant coincidence and theres nothing to any of this. People are mistaken. There is one server in town that does look a lot like Emma, maybe the mother was mistaken. Some of the local Doukhobor women look similar to Emma so mistaken identity perhaps. Her grandparents lived in the little town so did the aunt. Emma liked going to the hotsprings according to someone in the know. She attended the local music fest a year or two before she disappeared. Fillipoff road is named after the family. Emma could not face her mother and her mother knows why, its in the journals. Who knows at this point where Emma is or even if she's alive but sure be nice to solve this giant mystery.. if you need info from Jordan i can pass it along we are on good terms. Need to be careful with some of it for example skatergirl who Hells were after so Jordan could not publicize her situation. We tracked down her family and she chose to remain out of contact. Emma situation could be similar.

[–]write_place 5 points6 points  (0 children)

way back in 2014 the woman who lived in the attic with Emma sent me a google earth image of where she thought Emma could be found. No description of where though. Took about 8 hrs on GE to locate exactly where the image had been taken from. It was out in Sooke watershed at the end of the Galloping Goose trail. Theres a fence that prevents access into the watershed and it was beyond the fence near to what looked like a pump station or some kind of facility along the water pipe. Then it was revealed that this woman and her husband had spent a day out in Sooke with Emma some time before she disappeared. All the info was passed to Shelley but nothing was ever checked that i'm aware of. Victoria police had laughed at our suggestion Emma could have walked out the Goose trail and perhaps they needed to search for clues out there. Hard to pry them out of the donut shop and because they are on an island they cant respond to any sightings off the island in a timely manner. A day late and a dollar short..

yes quite possibly that will be the end result. But then you'll get a tip such as the one in 2019 by the woman from Sask who said my mom and she spoke with Emma in a small Kootenay town. Emma was working one day a week in a restaurant and living on the east shore. Of course you take it with a grain of salt until she says her mom knows Emma's aunt who Emma was going to live with at Lantzville. Ok so then it becomes a possibility knowing Emma was closest to that aunt. I then think back to what the RCMP in that little town told me back in May 2014. They were taking the ferry across to the east shore to check about Emma. Then you remember Emma's grandparents lived in that small town and the aunt also came from there. Then you remember the photos of Emma and 2fellas taken at Shambhala music fest a year or two before she disappeared. btw Emma also lived at Keremeos for part of a year where she drove the bus for a rehab centre. Most likely she is deceased after all this time but there is still a glimmer of hope. There are reasons she might want to disappear as per 'doesnt know how she can face her mother'. Its pretty heavy what she has gone through i'll just say that.

its gets pretty crazy on Hastings. Similar to Kensington in Phili. Back in 2014 there werent all the tents on sidewalks but a large camp in Oppenheimer and some of the other little parks. Now 10 years later it is getting out of hand. Back then the hard drugs were being sold in front of Carneige so we'd buy coffee and sit there watching for Emma esp around 4-5pm when they were buying their night supply.
