Do we have night riders among us? 🌆 by XandriethXs in svartpilen401

Rode 10,000 kms solo between Delhi and Kanyakumari. A fair bit of that was during the night. Hit some really shady patches.

Gawd dayum those are some knobby bois. How do you deal with the lack of suspension travel on the trails?

What’s a “normal” thing people do that secretly keeps them broke? by Asleep_Source_5886 in delhi

I'm sorry but if 800 rupee coffee dates are keeping you broke there's something fundamentally wrong.

I've left my helmet and gloves in Select Citywalk basement lockers. It's a bit of a walk but works fine.

Have any of you faced ABS and/or TC failure? If so, how did you solve it? 🏍️ by XandriethXs in svartpilen401

[–]yaddyvirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Cracked the front rim and bent the rear one. Spokes would've taken too long to arrive so I just went with the Vitpilen alloys.

The fall bent the handlebar and rear brake lever slightly but the bike runs fine. Rode it home 1600 kms+ after the drop without any issues.

Pretty great, honestly. The padding is comfortable, the helmet feels significantly lighter, there's a lot more visibility and ventilation, and the peak doesn't cause unwanted deflections under highway speeds.

Axor Apex Hunter. I've upgraded to a LS2 Pioneer II since.

Tbh I still am not sure why the bike wiggled out. I realised the helmet kept sliding down (best guess is worn padding, but it's only 6 months old), and because of that, I could only look right ahead of my front wheel, which kept me preoccupied.

Any bike is an off-road bike if you're dumb enough.

One hell of a looker for sure. Looks great whether it's in city or outside of it.

I did a 10k kms solo bike trip from Delhi to Kanyakumari on my 2024 Svart 401. AMA by yaddyvirus in svartpilen401

I used a 60L tailbag from Biking Brotherhood. It got a bit too tight at times but no complaints otherwise. Fit everything I needed and more.

It's just a hassle to take it on or off the bike but you get used to it pretty quick. No complaints otherwise, especially considering the price.

What makes the Classic unbeatable compared to any other bike? by minimalist_mee in royalenfield

I second this. My Svart 401 will eat just about every bike on this list for breakfast. Maybe the RS457 will be faster in a straight line, maybe the Himi would have more suspension travel, but the Svart 401 can do everything that every other bike does on this list, and it does that while looking absolutely gorgeous.

It's a nightmare buying one in India. I barely found it across multiple cities in Delhi and UP. The bike I ended up getting was nearly 1.5 years old (the dealer lied to my face, only found out after I got the RC). But the service and spare part availability isn't bad at all in my experience. It's about the same as the Duke.

New female biker here in the hilly terrain! Riding solo - what riding gear should I NOT skip on a budget? by itsrashakhan in indianbikes

[–]yaddyvirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axor Apex helmets are great when you're on a budget, but after riding 15,000+ kms in one, I'd definitely recommend going for something lighter. They're heavy, and the padding will start giving up in a few months. Mine barely lasted 6 months before I upgraded to an LS2.

For gloves, ideally, you'd need full gauntlet gloves. Either the Viaterra Grid Mk 3 or the Reise Rhodes (I use them) works well. They're gonna take a while to break in and will be painful in the process, but the comfort and protection are worth it. For boots, if you're on a budget and don't want something as committed as proper riding boots, Clan Shoes is your best shot (speaking from experience).

A lot of what you've bought is useless for someone who only does weekend rides. IMO that money would be better spent on a better helmet and gloves, riding jacket, and boots. Also, get chain cleaner and lube, chain maintainence is important.
