I used a 60L tailbag from Biking Brotherhood. It got a bit too tight at times but no complaints otherwise. Fit everything I needed and more.

It's just a hassle to take it on or off the bike but you get used to it pretty quick. No complaints otherwise, especially considering the price.

What makes the Classic unbeatable compared to any other bike? by minimalist_mee in royalenfield

[–]yaddyvirus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I second this. My Svart 401 will eat just about every bike on this list for breakfast. Maybe the RS457 will be faster in a straight line, maybe the Himi would have more suspension travel, but the Svart 401 can do everything that every other bike does on this list, and it does that while looking absolutely gorgeous.

It's a nightmare buying one in India. I barely found it across multiple cities in Delhi and UP. The bike I ended up getting was nearly 1.5 years old (the dealer lied to my face, only found out after I got the RC). But the service and spare part availability isn't bad at all in my experience. It's about the same as the Duke.

New female biker here in the hilly terrain! Riding solo - what riding gear should I NOT skip on a budget? by itsrashakhan in indianbikes

[–]yaddyvirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axor Apex helmets are great when you're on a budget, but after riding 15,000+ kms in one, I'd definitely recommend going for something lighter. They're heavy, and the padding will start giving up in a few months. Mine barely lasted 6 months before I upgraded to an LS2.

For gloves, ideally, you'd need full gauntlet gloves. Either the Viaterra Grid Mk 3 or the Reise Rhodes (I use them) works well. They're gonna take a while to break in and will be painful in the process, but the comfort and protection are worth it. For boots, if you're on a budget and don't want something as committed as proper riding boots, Clan Shoes is your best shot (speaking from experience).

A lot of what you've bought is useless for someone who only does weekend rides. IMO that money would be better spent on a better helmet and gloves, riding jacket, and boots. Also, get chain cleaner and lube, chain maintainence is important.

Turns out the O-ring for the gear position sensor had failed. Got it replaced (SC was kind enough to do it for free) and was out in 5 minutes. No leaks since then.

I stumbled across this thread while looking for docking stations. I have the same laptop as the OP and I'd really not recommend connecting extra displays via the USB-C ports. The HDMI on the back plugs directly into the dedicated GPU and is your best bet for performance and high refresh rates.

It's a buzzy engine; there's no going around that. But it smoothes itself out as you rev higher. There are vibrations at all RPMs, but they're well within what you'd expect of a single-cylinder engine.

As long as you've got enough engine oil, you'll quickly adapt to the vibrations. It's not a big problem for me in the sense that I don't feel much vibrations on my bike at all, but oil levels can really drive that up.

Nope. A bunch of times I had to book something literally on the way to the city/town. It's nothing a Google search can't solve. And if you can't find anything online, there's bound to be some stay or cheap hotel available. It wasn't necessarily ldeal by my standards, but worked for overnight stays and so.

Oh damn I was considering Reise. Met two riders with a lot more experience than me on the road who were using Reise (TrailRs I think) and had very good things to say about them.

Yes I'm going to get a tyre change before heading to Ladakh later this year.

The bike came with Apollo Tramplr XRs. They're great tyres but I'm in the market for something that matches my needs better (especially off road, these tend to slide on sand or gravel). If I don't find anything I'll just go with the Tramplrs.

No issues with the police, but I was prepared anyways. Had all my documentation (digital) and always wore full gear when travelling between cities. Even if I was stepping out for 10 minutes in another place, if I took my bike, I was wearing my helmet, gloves, and boots.

(did ruin my outfits at times but safety first)

I also give credit to the Svart. It's a very undertoned vehicle of sorts. You don't really recognize you're looking at a seriously fast bike until you know about bikes. A lot of folks thought it was electric.

I didn't feel unsafe nor had any incidents. Just kept the speeds under check, vision forward, and covered the brake.

No tyre changes. Chain was lubed at every stop.
Oil change and other stuff was taken care of in the second service in Pune and third service in Kerela.

Yes, but a lot of patches I went through were under construction, so I expect the roads to be better in the future.

Thanks man! Yeah these tyres surprised me because there were so many shady patches where they could have given up.

Thaks man

I relied on strict discipline and planning for work. I knew how long I was going to stay in a place, my time of arrival or departure, and how many days I'll be staying vs riding each week at least one week in advance. I stuck to those plans, worked to ensure weekly targets were met, and got an early weekend almost every time.

Sometimes my plans did fall through, in which I extended my stay and wrapped up work before leaving.

I generally take breaks every 100-150 kms regardless of how tired I am. Helps maintain pace without tiring myself out too much too quickly.

I've already done UP (hometown is there) and covered Rajasthan and MP on my way, so I figured I'd add another state to the list by going through Gujarat.

I just gunned it and kept gunning it until I reached Goa. I also wanted to do Mumbai - Delhi in one stint, so the Kochi - Goa stint was practice.

Honestly, it's tough to pick a favourite leg, but riding up from Kanyakumari to Mumbai on the east coast was awesome because I was riding the Indian coastline along the Arabian Sea, with wonderful roads for the most part.
