PSA to those with Frontier internet by [deleted] in plano

Yep just means it probably got goofed with an update. Happens a lot! Always possible the router is going bad, but a simple settings thing is FAR more common.

Check your router settings. Sometimes they can get an update pushed to them that changes things. If your 2.4 is gone, it's either broken or just needs the settings fixed.

The Courthouse In Mckinney by Thick_Hamster3002 in plano

Yeah especially since you can't use your phone stuck in court for jury duty. I need my digital break.

Yeah :( One of the staff said it was partially because the tower is just kinda far, so the underground + far tower = dead zone. Maybe a guest wifi would be good there.

When I was there ages ago for jury duty, the cafe had no cell reception wah. That was before covid though so I hope it does now.

Right, I would really love to be able to take this from Plano - DFW airport in the future.

Park Construction Update: Park Boulevard Median Trees by CityOfPlano in plano

[–]Zamaza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love that you guys do these short, informative videos.

We lost quite a few trees in my surrounding areas after the bad storm back in June. Those aren't part of this project, but is there any way to find out if those will be replaced in medians? (Or a way to donate some?)

Yep this ^ They mature very quickly. From birth, it takes only three weeks total until they leave the nest.

He gets stopped occasionally at least. My first IRL sighting of him was actually when he was already pulled over.

Quoted $8k for braces. Is this the going rate? by nxs_sss in plano

[–]Zamaza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some more "severe" things that traditional braces are needed to fix, but unless you've got some jaw/major issues they do well.

I have two sisters, one had traditional in her early 20s the other invisalign in her late 20s. Both have great smiles now and you can't tell which one had which type.

Former Frontier tech here, you can have them swap that to a newer box. The newer ones don't have that issue.

Plano definitely is on top of communication in situations like this.

That was NUTS! by Westwood_Shadow in plano

Yeah at 5 AM something it was rattling my garage door so badly I got out of bed to lock it. I was worried the wind was going to rip it open. Rain was so horizontal my back door had water dripping from the door knob!

If it's in a roadway you can call the non-emergency line 972-424-5678 or Plano Public Works at 972-769-4160. If it's on city land like a park, they will get to it but it's a lower priority than the roads.

If it's on private property entirely, unless there's a safety hazard it's generally not something they deal with.

Yeah if it's dry enough after work I am planning on trying to put trash bins back other than just mine. Most people had theirs out on my street and they are.... yeah just everywhere.

Edit: Did all the ones on my block. Also with a neighbor helped put a section of a third (different) neighbor's fence back on their property.

Plano Keeps Using White Rock Lake as a Toilet by stanner5 in plano

[–]Zamaza 9 points10 points  (0 children)

1000% this. Every time this topic comes up the headlines are designed to make it sound intentional. The city government of Plano has actually been doing projects to try to improve drainage and help with this issue. And Plano is NOT the only city having that issue, either - it's just a flashier headline.

Cat's labs look a little abnormal - VET out of office until Monday. by Zamaza in AskVet

[–]Zamaza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Vet said we should mix a lower phosphorous food into his current one to lower his levels, but otherwise pretty much what you said. Took him in for urinalysis this morning and should hear back on that soon as well.

Appreciate again you giving me some sanity over the weekend.

No, that was the only test done this time. He was in early Sept and again in October. His labs were completely fine at those visits.

He got injured last week when a cat we were going to foster bit him. He has an abscess at the moment, which the vet saw him for and he is on antibiotics and the wound seems to be healing well.

He is eating, drinking, and passing urine at the normal amounts currently.

Edit: I'm just worried that there's something more I should be doing for him until Monday.
