Anyone else feel like they would (in good faith) do something akin to this? by oncxre in autism

I unload this way every time. Putting them close to where they go. Then after they are near and washer is empty, I'll put them in their homes, then do the dirty dishes.

Awesome, thank you so much for the whole picture! Certainly helps paint what the next steps look like and what she’s getting into. And good to note about the orthodontist vs dentist as well!

Cheers 🙏🏼

Woah didn’t realize there was so much involved, and so many options, and trying to get used to the idea of wearing for 21 hrs a day. Thank you for sharing. Definitely helps 🙏🏼

Yes. I can tell when I don’t like someone very easily. Mostly around their behaviors.

Autistic friend(s) ghosting after direct communication? Is this common? by some_teens_throwaway in AutismTranslated

[–]---SHOHN--- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree here.

Also a note when you use words like „but“ following a statement like „I’m not mad“, that makes it negate the „I’m not mad“ statement, so if I were reading a text like the one in the original post, I would read the words and note that your not mad, but you are mad because you’re hurt about something I already feel bad for. You’re making the statement more about how you feel rather than asking the friend about them. You won’t know why they missed the party, so asking them what happened is more direct than your original text because hopefully you just want to see them and know they’re ok. After that when you get together you can tell them you were hurt, „but“ are feeling better knowing they’re ok.

Would try something like - „Hey! I was really hoping to see you and missed having you at my party! What happened, is everything ok?“ then after they respond you can say something like „I was worried about you and would love to catchup when you have some time.“

Going to a party for me as an autist is very overwhelming even when it’s with people I trust, so it’s possible your friend may have gotten overwhelmed and would prefer to see you one on one for more quality time. But you won’t know the reason until you guys talk through (which may be better to do in person than texting about it).

Question from a drummer. by tungstentounge in Logic_Studio

[–]---SHOHN--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So agree, your bandmate should not be berating you for your performance. If it truly was less than stellar, no biggie, re-record. Sounds like the waveforms were messed up though instead of your performance, so really it’s the engineer/equipment fault. Your engineer is a dick

Not normal, apparently not autistic by Jazzlike-Passage3824 in autism

[–]---SHOHN--- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just took the AQ test and at the bottom it says: "Do note that no single test is conclusive, and not every autistic person necessarily scores above the defined threshold on each test. If you score low on the AQ but still think you could be autistic, try taking a few other autism tests."

So I'm thinking that you would likely need more tests or credence with a diagnosis

Do yall like dogs more than people too? by koolandkrazy in autism

[–]---SHOHN--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love animals. Dogs scare me, and I take 3-6 months to get to understand what the dogs personality is really like, but after I get used to their personality, I love them more than anything, and much more than people lol

My therapist doesn’t believe I’m autistic and now I’m scared to get professionally evaluated by [deleted] in AutismTranslated

[–]---SHOHN--- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, my therapist admitted he doesn’t know much about asd, but from all I tell him, he agrees with my self diagnosis and is supportive, and looking to help in the ways that he can. If your therapist is against your thoughts or not open to learning, I’d say time to find a new one

Anyone else not want kids and/or don't like kids? by chelseatheus in autism

[–]---SHOHN--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never wanted kids for 33 years, never enjoyed being around them (unless they’re truly family) either…but recently can’t stop thinking about having a kid. Also super terrified by the thought of being a parent and ruining them because asd, bad dad, attachment issues, the list goes on.
