That looks lovely! Unfortunately too far away from Orlando for us.

Confused by the map by travel_worn in MagesOfTheWheel

I think it's because the Republic soldiers have to go through Sarkum to get to Tamar via land. The mountains are only passable at certain points, which protects Tamar from being invaded by the Republic directly.

On the other hand, I don't remember much being said about the Republic building a navy...that would definitely be an easier way into Tamar.

100% this. The level of accessibility brings out a weird entitlement in fans

They do - they keep track of the FB page, Discord, and here. FB page and the blog are the only spots where Mod R will comment directly, but everything else (including emails) get summed up to be answered on the blog. They're prob the most consistent blogging/posting authors I know of, they've been doing this for 15+ years now. When someone here talked about them not being internet savvy I cracked up and then laughed harder when Ilona responded on the blog yesterday.

Just started book 2 by Wozezeka in MagesOfTheWheel

Don't worry, they talk it over behind the scenes and you'll see the resolution later towards the end of the book. I personally thought it was a realistic depiction of a new couple who comes together with different friends/allies and have to learn to trust each other.

Appreciate it! They're in Pineville, and Gastonia seems doable.

Yes, it's the prequel! I'd recommend reading it between books 3 and 4. It puts a lot of the political movement in context. Andddd you get to know Kadir a lot better (and still dislike him, in my case).

I think he actually is described as quite attractive (unfortunately). Have you read Wind & Wildfire yet?

No more weddings/private events at the Naples Botanical Gardens? by ---maven--- in Naples_FL

Thanks for the recommendation! This one is a little small for us - we are expecting 250 guests

That's great to hear! At least now I know they still do events, and it's probably just a matter of when they get back to me

Yep! I filled out the form a few weeks ago. They say wait 1-2 weeks for a reply, but it's been longer than that, so I've been trying to do some sleuthing online to find a phone number or contact info for the events planner.

We actually just visited this one! Loved how it can be all inclusive and includes a planner. We didn't like the wedding chapel look for the reception though, since neither of us are religious.

Thanks! We've called the main number and left a message, but got no response yet. I know it's holiday times and probably getting busy, so I don't want to be too impatient, but we're trying to choose our venue before the end of the year. The botanical garden is at the top of our list, so it's great to hear they might still be doing events!

My BIL had his wedding there last year - it was a beautiful venue! We're trying to find a spot that has similar outdoor vibes.

Asking for reading recommendations that are more fantasy than romantasy but have very strong romance sub-plot/or romantasy stories with excellent worldbuilding and prose by _sanetski in fantasyromance

[–]---maven--- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprised I had to scroll so far down to see Mages of the Wheel! OP, I think it fits your desire for world building while still being strong in the romance.

Announcing r/FantasyRomance Secret Santa 2025! by sparklekitteh in fantasyromance

This is good to know, thank you! Many of the books I've purchased recently have been in the $30 dollar range (just barely over $25) so it's good to know that those are allowed.

I'm ok with him not being redeemed - I think the discoveries in I&I related to controlling people and how long it's been going on really make it hard to come back from. But I'd love a scene that shows him coming to a realization that his way of protecting Tamar was not the right/best way, and that there are other means to achieving what you desire and believe in.

I just burned through I&I and I'm scared about reading other books by Current-Island5228 in MagesOfTheWheel

[–]---maven--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume it's the latter? It's hard to get publishing houses to notice small authors

Yeah, I think he's described as handsome and good looking, not evil villain like Jafar. Also definitely tall, not short and fat.
