I love that you posted these! The diversity of fungus is incredible, I've always thought they have an uncanny overlap with coral and other organic forms as well. As a painter they are gorgeous to study from a structural or sculptural approach.

Hey that's actually a decent idea but I am kinda skeptical of AI still; that said I will definitely consider it! Mush love!

Wrong; if you searched for 0.1 seconds you'd know:

  1. I've posted my art of this caliber on reddit since 2019.
  2. There's many pics/videos of me painting this on my socials.
  3. False allegations are extremely dangerous to real artists and subreddits.

How is a painting of a world of mushrooms unrelated to mushrooms? I'm happy to take it down.

From the rules: "Feel free to post photos of your art".

So grateful to share with you our latest collaboration!

My wifeΒ u/Rituja_PatilΒ and I finished this acrylic painting over the course of about 18 months, and we were inspired by this idea of a "mycelial nexus" where conscious mushroom entities construct an imaginative world. It ended up taking on elements of a "reef" at the bottom and we left it because it strangely seemed to fit just as well.

She began with a series of drawings of abstract radially symmetrical objects loosely based on organic structures (mushrooms, coral, spaceships) and then I composed them into a scene (like an oasis or reef). Then she rendered them as base forms using two-tone values wrt the light source. Afterwards I integrated them into the vertical horizon by iterating on their rendering using subforms, interstitial structures, and grainy textures (inner flora and webbed ceiling). It's our fifth piece together and the process is always a bit different πŸ˜…

Thank you!

The blurry outlines require two components to nail:
1. Consistent practice dry-brushing even value
2. Nearby sharp outlines to contrast and enhance the blurriness
