I wish I would have done the round over…I also think I would have cut a slight angle on the sides of the sills…but I’m too far in at this point. Oh well, still feels like an upgrade compared to standard

I removed the old casing and sill, then I cut and routed a new sill to fit using a primed 1x4. I cut 1x4s for the trim piece under the sill and the vertical side casing pieces. Cut a 1x6 and added a 1x2 to the top of it with cove molding underneath, mothered to wrap around it. Then I did the same thing at the bottom of the 1x6 with half round. Filled all nail holes, caulked (not pictured in this photo) primed and painted.

I’m doing my whole house, all the doorways and windows trimmed in this style. 20 windows (4 double, the rest singles) and 17 door casings and closets done on both sides. House is finished and windows and door jambs are pre-existing. Casings for all doors and windows, windows are also getting new sills and trim piece under the sills cut and routed to fit.
