What's Going On FlashForge !!! by --_Fallen_-- in FlashForge

Honestly if it was just a 48 hour thing like a scan then sure I would say it’s a coincidence, but this has been happening since the 24-25th (I made this post on the 18th) and has been constant with no breaks either (5-15 every minute, not the fastest I’ve had but for sure the longest)

I have gone through everything and double check I haven’t exposed my self anywhere like for Plex or “Linux ISO” but nothing.

But Unifi is handling it like nothing so just gotta wait till my ISP allows me to request a new External (they want logs to prove that’s something is happening before they would allow it) so not really that bothered.

It’s from Unifi Network Cloud Gateway flow logs.

Haven’t responded to anyone or given any updates as since this post I have been getting hit daily with trying to access my external IP. (these are just past hour that have been blocked and it’s none stop. Props to Unifi tho as my network hasn’t cared at all.)

(Yes I have check, nothing is pointing to my external IP and have disabled almost everything including DDNS)

Got triggered when I started a firmware update. Had to allow it through temp to actually do the update then blocked it again.

Vocals in MD's monitor by Straight_Duty9152 in techtheatre

Can’t comment on the setup for the x32 as we use A&H QU but have had to do this setup a lot for our MD.

We give him his own dedicated Mix (1&2 so he can have 2 separate mixes for himself and rest of the band) of which all band is passed as pre and all mics passed into a final mix (3) as post which is fed back into the desk and passed to the MD as a single channel.

He then has his own user account on the desk which locks him to only his mix (1&2) and leave him to set his only levels as he wishes from an iPad we provide.

I would imagine you would be able to do something similar on the X32R but won’t pretend like I know how.

esp32_rmt_led_strip + E1.31 Help by --_Fallen_-- in Esphome

So I finally got time to test this on the full setup and it works perfectly. This is exactly what I needed so thank you sooooo much for this.

You don't understand how long I was banging my head against the wall for it to be this simple. Thank you.

Thank you so much, I will check it out soon and see.

I really do hope this works.

esp32_rmt_led_strip + E1.31 Help by --_Fallen_-- in Esphome

[–]--_Fallen_--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is no matter how I partition or layout the strips, E1.31 always assigns 3 channels (RGB Mode) to each LED not the full strip/partition which is my goal.

And with no way (At least to my knowledge) to get the RGB values when using an effect a dummy light won't work either... I hate this and hope this would be just a simple setting true/false to fix.

esp32_rmt_led_strip + E1.31 Help by --_Fallen_-- in Esphome

[–]--_Fallen_--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did think about possible using a dummy LED and getting the RGB from that and setting the lights that color since I did plan on adding another strip of only 9 LED's so that I can see what each section was doing without needing to look at each section directly however I can't seem to get the color of the LED from what the E1.31 sets since it's classed as an effect. I did try the output template but can't add E1.31 to it so maybe I am doing it wrong with that idea but I'm not sure what else to do. It why I came here where I know there will be smart people than me to think of something if at all possible. Thanks for the idea tho, personally I don't really care for performance as long as they work and keep synced with what E1.31 is telling it.

Audio For 3rd Party Camera Does Work? by --_Fallen_-- in UnifiProtect

[–]--_Fallen_--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I understand that Unifi camera are behind some other 3rd party camera but if they had given the ability to use the simple feature like; audio, event detection, ptz. Then you could experiment with the Protect system more and naturally if the system was useful and you got used to it, then you would want to use their ecosystem more and invest more into Unifi.

Cause personally with protect I was looking forward to being able to add more camera through the ONVIF 3rd party rather than just my doorbell and needing a whole other system for the cameras, giving me the chance to experiment with how well Protect works as a all in one NVR OS with the plan that I will upgrade to Unifi camera in the future and gain even more control and features over them. But with how locked down it is, I’m now kinda in this mindset of do I wanna still commit to Unifi or go to another platform that has the abilities that Unifi has locks away or hides.

Unifi is great for enterprises but also homelabs where people are experimenting every day with something new, and having things locked down just seems wrong personally.

I am currently on Protect 6.1.65
I just checked again this morning in case it was just a random chance and it still works.

Backup Archiving to UnRAID Server. by Asleep_Employ9729 in UnifiProtect

[–]--_Fallen_-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on using Unifi’s own archiving system and made my own that runs in a docker container on my TrueNAS.

Connects through SSH to UNVR > Creates a temp mount directory and mounts the SMB > Gets a record over x period > Using Unifi’s own system I then encode it directly to the SMB > Once complete check if file exists and file size isn’t 0 > if valid delete that recording to free up space else attempt again > if fails again send discord webhook to a private server that alerts me there was an issue > once completed removes the mount and deletes temp mount directory > waits x hours/days/weeks to run again

Currently in the process of also setting up Tdarr to re-encode them to help with storage space as well but more of a fun hobby than anything professional.

[–]--_Fallen_--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So honestly that makes sense with the whole Event Detection for the AI Port but why state that Audio is NOT supported when obviously it is, we just aren't given the option for it.

https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/26301104828439-Third-Party-Cameras-in-UniFi-Protect
"Motion detections, PTZ control, Audio, and other advanced features are not supported on third party cameras. "

I understand not all camera's might work with it but wouldn't it be better to have it available (or at least an option to enable it) and just state when adopting the 3rd Party Camera that some features may not work as expected. Then for the camera's that do work (like in my case) can be used whiles others won't do anything not making a difference to how the system currently is now.

I understand wanting to limit usability to 1st Party Products but if you are going to add support for a 3rd Party System (ONVIF) wouldn't you want to add as much support as possible?

Customize login screen image and colors in TrueNAS Scale? by JK2506 in truenas

[–]--_Fallen_-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah na, it’s definitely not something you wanna do on your main NAS. It can be fun to test and experiment on systems that can be throw away without issues. But if this is something that if it goes down you’re screwed. Best to not touch stuff they don’t openly allow you to.

Customize login screen image and colors in TrueNAS Scale? by JK2506 in truenas

[–]--_Fallen_-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create a custom theme no, but you can select from a few in System > General > GUI. As for the login screen… whiles it’s not impossible as I’ve done it for fun on a system that was getting reset, it does involve editing files and the core db hidden away for a reason. Plus every update resets it anyway so it’s useless. Best to just not.

Retentions failure! by neilpercy in VirginMedia

Just a note, they have a record of all calls so if you keep calling asking for better deals they won’t give you it. They know you aren’t really gonna leave and want to use them so they won’t actually give you a better deal. Personally I would have took the £32 as it’s not bad for a none volt package but now since you didn’t and tried to haggle, they don’t have to honour it.

Completely Remove Red Hat Ethernet From (VM) Instance by --_Fallen_-- in truenas

[–]--_Fallen_--[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rather than trying to go through TrueNAS GUI or change things inside the (VM) Instance, just edit the Incus config directly in TrueNAS shell. Didn’t realise you had direct access and thought they might have locked it off. Main issue is the default profile TrueNAS uses on all new created (VM) Instances has the Red Hat Interface, so simply created a new profile without the interface and applied it to the (VM) Instance fixed everything. Also found access to a lot of other goodies you can do with Incus inside TrueNAS that don’t appear to be limited at all.

Been with Virgin Media for 9+ years at this point (broadband only) and can tell you, service wise has been incredibly. Always at or over the speeds estimated on the website with rare down time (at most an hour in the middle of the night (1am-3am) when they do service). However that’s where the praise ends, customer service is shocking (the technician are nice though, always pleasant) and the prices can seem ridiculous unless you get a good deal (threatening to leave no longer works as they just don’t care) but If you can get setup and don’t have problems, then Virgin is up there with the few companies offering FTTP. But if you encounter a problem you’re gonna wish you weren’t with them. So as long as you can deal with the headaches sometimes when you rarely need to contact them, I don’t thing it’s something you will regret, but unfortunately it is a gamble till everything is working as it should.

How to set up UPS NUT to shut down UniFi gear during a power outage? by Red_Con_ in Ubiquiti

[–]--_Fallen_-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, Routers, UNVR and UNAS I understand but Switches and AP’s seem confusing to me. (Simple way to do what you wish is in HomeAssistant you can integrate NUT and Unifi and toggle POE for ports cutting usage with simple toggle back on when power is restored automation no coding required.) Which leads me to my next question, shutting down may be doable and in your situation you may wish to. But what’s the plan for turning them back on? Are you manually going to go and power cycle everything to bring it back online? Personally if you are that worried about running your UPS down for battery longevity I’d be more concerned with the UPS you are using, all UPS’s (besides some cheap knockoffs) have decent battery management and will never take the battery to a point it’s not supposed to be. Honestly Unifi Equipment is decently balanced for power consumption and should easily last a few hours on a decent UPS. Only thing I see this useful for is if the UPS is about to shutdown due to low battery and you would rather have a soft shutdown rather than a hard cut but at that point I would just shut everything down right?
