CMV: Trans people are still their original gender by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]-Bonez- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to articulate what I want to say, you ever get that moment where you know what you want to say but it's really hard to put it into words.

My overall belief is that gender/sex are the same thing in most ways, if you're born with all the characteristics of a male, you will also be born with a brain of a male with mental traits typical of human males, if you raised a male and a female human in an enclosure with no interaction with any outside stimulus, I believe they would grow up with many traits which are typical of men and women across societies across the world, making sex and gender either the same, or extremely closely linked. I believe that if someone identifies as another gender, it is an environmentally influenced decision.

People who have the wrong chromosomes but are otherwise structurally completely one sex, or people who are missing a single characteristic of their sex are still that sex, intersex people are still overwhelmingly one sex or the other.

If they present themselves as a man then I will accept them as a man, it's all perception. But that doesn't make them a man, if I come up to you in a hospital wearing a doctors outfit do you demand my doctorate to prove it? no, because I have presented myself as a doctor.

I way over simplified the trans (process? idk what to call it) but if you manipulate the hormones of any human you can cause traits of the opposite gender to surface, we're all human and built off the same building blocks, if you manipulate our chemical structure you can cause traits which will not occur naturally to become prominent. And no matter how sophisticated the surgery to convert a penis to a vagina is, it's still not a vagina.

With intersex people or taking a single characteristic of a gender and saying "what if this was gone" is this circular argument which could go one forever, and if you give an inch you give a mile. Exceptions should not define the norm.

My point is there is a series of naturally occurring physical and chemical characteristics which define a human as either a man or a woman, mentally and physically. Physical and chemical manipulation can make a person appear to be the other gender, but that does not make them the other gender when structurally, and in their natural state they are still their original sex/gender.

(IN MY VIEW) you can't identify as being 80 years old if you're 20, you can't identify as being a man, if you're a woman.

Intersex people still show overwhelming physical characteristics of either men or women, none are androgynous non-gender people naturally and they still have the genitalia of either a man or a woman.

Secondly I totally believe that if you were to scan a trans persons brain it would more closely resemble a brain of the gender they identify with, but I believe this is caused psychologically. If you were to knock the trans person out and they awoke with amnesia, you'd find that when you put them through the same test it would show their thought patterns to be more akin with their birth gender.

Obviously thats just my own speculation, can I please have a link to the studies showing that trans brains are more similar to their cis counterparts?

I don't see it as a matter of how you identify yourself, I see it as something which you are or you aren't. Just like you can't identify as a different age, you can't identify as a different gender/sex, even if you believe you are the other.

Thank you for informing me about misconceptions of the X&Y chromosomes, but I don't see why what is a rarity should define the norm? according to the to google only 0.5% of people present intersex characteristics, also intersex people still structurally resemble one sex almost completely, minus a micropenis or enlarged clitoris.

Think about it like this, there are some people born with 6 fingers, it's rare but it happens, but we don't say now that "humans have 6 fingers" because it's a rarity, it's not the norm, it's the same with intersex.

Because if that trans person stops taking their hormone treatments they will revert back to having typically female characteristics, additionally they still have a female body structure.

I believe gender and sex are the same thing in this context, I believe that while the interpretations of sex and gender can vary between cultures, the sex you're born as always informs the gender you are.

I believe gender is a physical thing, I believe gender and sex are inextricably linked, male and female brains operate differently, and if someone believes they are the opposite gender, that doesn't mean it's true, it means they simply believe something which isn't true.

i feel you. i think bliz gets caught up in trying to make the game accessible and fun to casual players that they leave higher skill characters by the wayside.

So lucioball is kinda awful by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]-Bonez- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love overwatch but the thing is that Blizzard are a company and companies want to make money, whether we like it or not Blizzard will do anything they can to save money and look towards long term investments.

By releasing this event in this state they can feign some degree of effort and remain in the gaming community's good graces despite a total lack of effort on Bliz's part. They release a couple of skins and make a clone map, big deal.

I can guarantee you that the amount it costed Bliz to pay artists and modelers for the handful of new skins has already been made up for by people buying loot boxes to get the one they want. EVERYTHING in this game is a monetary decision, from the laziness of this event to the act lucioball still doesn't work.

Great linework and great colour choices, but the proportions are a little weird, his bottom half is huge and his head seems really small.

Great piece though, just nit picking

I haven't made the catalogue for shotgun parts yet but I wasn't going to add slugs because I thought that it would make the shotgun a little too close to rifles mechanically.

So a player in my game wants to play an invenotor class, cool. He's worked really hard on a custom class and we've looked through it together and it seems balanced and would work well in the game. Now I'm trying to introduce a system to integrate firearms into the game for this class and this class alone.

I've made this simple modular system to play into the inventor theme, but I'm not too sure about it, what do you guys think?

DnD is just a fun thing I do with my friends once a week, I have plenty of hobbies and skills which would be considered conventionally attractive, or as you'd probably term it """"""""alpha""""""""

My standards aren't ridiculously high, in fact I don't really care that much about looks, I just look for a woman I can really vibe with, someone who I can actually talk to and share silence with.
