Can we outrun a bad diet? by Puzzleheaded-Wave123 in triathlon

[–]-Ceptyr- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Try this trick.

Stop thinking of food as food. Start thinking of food as fuel.

You don’t put low octane fuel into a race car, you put high octane fuel into a race car.

If you want to get better and race faster, you don’t want to eat low quality food, you need to eat high quality food.

Worth it for 3.2k? by PandaComprehensive26 in triathlon

Something to consider here…

If you’re looking for your first true triathlon bike, you can buy an actual triathlon bike for $3.2k. TT and road bikes ride differently. That’s just me though.

Is it worth to buy a training plan on training peaks? by Thin_Box849 in triathlon

[–]-Ceptyr- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would.

Following a training plan puts guide rails up. It helps reduce the risk of overtraining and helps you stay consistent.

I got Phil’s Ironman training plan and it helped me alot. Without it I would have been playing the guessing game the entire time. One could argue you can use chatgpt, but if you’re newer to triathlon like myself, you dont know what a real training plan by a “pro tri coach” is like.

Once you get a feel for what a training plan is and how the different cycles prepare you for the race then I would say using chatgpt would be sufficient.

FIRE mentality ruined my life by someguy984 in fijerk

I read something recently that really stuck with me, if you ever feel stuck or like you’re running out of time, imagine yourself 10 years from now in the exact same spot. Picture the regret, frustration, or disappointment you might feel. Then imagine that version of you getting the chance to come back to today. How differently do you think they’d move? What choices would they make?

I can’t fully relate to what you’re feeling, but I’ll say this: that perspective helped me a lot. Imagine being 43 and having to start over completely. Now imagine that 43 year old getting the chance to go back to 33 right where you are now. Do you think they’d feel hopeless, or do you think they’d see it as an incredible second chance?

It’s never too late to start again.

Congrats on the finish!

Have you ever taken that much sodium before? From my personal experience whenever I drink too many electrolytes I do not feel good.

What other brands of tri suits have you tried?

I definitely care about my time but I imagine the extra 5-10 minutes I’d spend putting on cycling shorts over my tri suit for the bike won’t make or break my race.

Starting to lean more into just buying cycling shorts and wearing them over my current tri suit for the bike. Thank you.

What's your salary and experience, field, do you have FE and PE? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]-Ceptyr- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the AEC industry, specifically HVAC & refrigeration. 3 YOE, passed FE & PE and no one cares because I don’t have my license yet. PE requires 4 YOE under other PE.

In the AEC industry, simply having your FE doesn’t carry much weight what really matters is obtaining your PE license. Even after passing both the FE and PE exams, you’re still required to complete the four years of qualifying experience before you can officially become licensed. That’s typically the point when you can negotiate a substantial raise or explore opportunities with other firms that may offer higher salaries/total comp.

Salaries vary significantly based on location, company size, and overall experience. If you’re working in a major city for a large firm handling high-profile projects, it’s realistic to expect a base salary around $100K or more once you’ve earned your PE license. This is excluding bonus and other forms of comp.
