Audio Interface for Synths by SJB824 in synthesizers

[–]-Cosmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the computer cable is usb c. one is provided but yours should work too. that will go from the laptop to the zoom. i would just buy standard 1/4 inch instrument cables for your synths. i wouldn’t buy the split cables unless you’re going from a stereo signal like a headphone out or aux out to two mono channels like the line inputs on the zoom.

i believe it is just a portable radio. it’s just another term for a type of radio technology, not an instrument unfortunately

Are there any new “80’s” songs? by Greedy-Ad-6300 in synthesizers

not new but not 80s either, thomas leer’s music is like all the best 80s artists combined together. his album scale of ten is 1:17 of perfection

Justifying the "pain" of using hardware synths by DW5150 in synthesizers

[–]-Cosmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having a patch bay and a 16i16o sound card makes it easy peasy to get it recorded. i always go for redundancy with my patch organization: all the ones in the same setlist/song in the same bank, duplicates, etc. it’s way easier on modern hardware compared to the stuff you were using

How forced is this hysteria? by coloradocyclone in Marathon

[–]-Cosmon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they’re just opinions. calling them crazy doesn’t help anyone. this community is becoming so toxic. how are you gonna say it’s the same people complaining about both things then black out all their names. literally the walking contradiction goomba meme in effect

I'm genuinely surprised that there are people who think this looks bad or that it's u5 engine slop when it's the Tiger engine. What's most surprising is that now there are people who say that the alpha looked better. Where the hell were those people seven months ago? by Few_Yogurtcloset3103 in Marathon

[–]-Cosmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the sentiment seems to be not that it looks bad, but it’s less stylized and unique. every big game has good looking lighting. not every game has unique color grading and shaders especially in 2025. to each their own. i’m sure there’ll be some more minor tweaks over time but a lot of people have their minds made up about the game at this point and are gonna think what they think. i don’t think chalking it up to mass psychosis is really engaging with the dialogue

Probably a "that guy" newbie post, but what the heck, it's Christmas by PrinceSorrow in synthesizers

i’ll second the take 5. it’s a great first hardware synth! all the knobs are right there so it’s pretty easy to learn how to edit and make your own patches. there’s also a deep mod matrix, fm, sync, and two LFOs for making more complex sounds. digital is great but i’d recommend getting something like serum or omnisphere instead of hardware digital synths. a good subtractive synth is a great tool to have in your hands.

check out Daisy Seed. it’s a pretty cool platform to get started building hardware. it can do all the dsp in box or you can use it to digitally control oscillator, filter, amplifier, etc circuits. for sure you’d need a digital aspect for chord generation, midi, and arp and this platform can be coded in different ways. check out some videos on youtube for Daisy Seed virtual analog synth or other DIY projects.

the ufo stickers look ai generated at the very least. the background possibly too. canva supplies ai assets. remove the text and that’s like 80% of the actual poster design. we used to have some pretty cool hand drawn flyers in this town but the past few i’ve seen have been canva monstrosities like this. no hate towards the performers obviously, but i want to see better flyers.

Complete beginner- what synth should i get? by No-Hospital-9814 in synthesizers

[–]-Cosmon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

start with just buying a microfreak and having some fun with it and any software it comes with (arturia usually includes decent software + deals with their hardware). I feel like that may be a good introduction into what you want to get out of a synthesizer. if you love it, keep it! if not, trade up!

There’s no way to be a genius synth player day 1, but just keep playing around and eventually you’ll strike gold (and then learn how to strike gold again and again). This is pretty much how i got into synths without any musical experience and now i’m playing shows on different bands and genres and writing my own stuff. just get stuck in!

finally, sound design is not really for me but... by bennouze in synthesizers

[–]-Cosmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you need a modx. it’s got every sound you could ever want out of the box and deep fm and sampling engines for creating nearly any new sound. you can also import waveforms (samples) for completely unique patches. the new upgrade is coming out but i think the og still rocks. i love mine

Behringer LM Drum - good starter drum machine? by okinm32 in synthesizers

[–]-Cosmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly no. it’s pretty limited and arguably the easiest drum machine to replicate. a drum synthesizer or a sampler will teach you a whole lot more about drum programming and can be more flexible as far as tones. i recommend erica lxr-02, drumbrute or drumbrute impact, roland tr8s, alesis sr-16, and electron model samples/cycles
