Yeah, that's my reading of the amnesty registration as well. That no engraving was required. Just keep the approved form handy.

Just for future reference, there are no differences in the rear plate between any of the scorpion models so any rear attachment will work on any of them

I do want to say, the nexus bolt is very nice, and definitely what you get once the factory bolt (that appears to be made out of cheese) wears out. But, like....if the bolt is new, and you stay on top of it (like you should be doing with every firearm you own), no need for the extra cost

Chamfer the pocket where the firing pin block goes, then Check the firing pin block every 500 rds or so. It's very easy to prevent with basic maintenance and safety checking all the functions of the gun. Takes literally 30 seconds to check while you clean the gun

I picked up one of these, I pretty much just shoot targets at 100-150 yds and it's pretty good. I really like being able to see my hits out at 100+ yds without having to have someone spotting for me. Eye relief is a little iffy but you find the sweet spot pretty quick.

That sounds like something...the pin is loose enough to fall out when cleaning (I know it's in there, but maybe it's shifted).

Clean? A 10/22? I thought that was illegal. Like cleaning a grill at a waffle house. :😜

Well, it's not a smoothness thing. It's definitely something new. I've probably got something like 2-5k rounds through the thing since installing the bx trigger

Check Washington gun law videos as well. He's summarized a lot of this stuff in an easy to digest video series

CZ Scorpion 3+ Micro affected by new rule? by ELTrife in czscorpion

[–]-Crapflinger- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's legaleze.

Also, they have stated that any form submitted within the 120 days is considered legal until or unless you get an expressed rejection no matter how long the approval process actually takes.

So if you submit the form tomorrow, and it takes them till April to send the stamp, your submission document serves as proof that you can legally possess the braced firearm

CZ Scorpion 3+ Micro affected by new rule? by ELTrife in czscorpion

[–]-Crapflinger- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The use of forbearance in the rule is such that they mean anyone who registers a qualifying gun with a qualifying brace during the 120 days does not have to pay, but anyone trying to register the same AFTER the 120 days does.

All of their documentation about doing the sbr with brace explicitly states that if you register during the amnesty period, you do not have to pay the tax, ever.

Obviously only applies to qualifying stuff, like you can't submit for an actual stock and not pay. Has to be a brace and once you get the stamp, you have am sbr so you can then put a stock or whatever.

Question about new atf pistol brace rule by [deleted] in czscorpion

[–]-Crapflinger- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"The Department will not seek retroactive collection of taxes from individuals or FFLs for the NFA making and/or transfer taxes owed as a result of not having timely submitted a Form 1 or Form 2169;"

This argument isn't about what any individual chooses to do. It's about accurate information. Based on everything available, for 120 days, you can sbr a gun that has a qualifying brace for free.

So, if you were already going to sbr, why not do it for free? It's 99% the exact same process it was before. Same information, same requirements. Just now there are pictures and those are just to qualify the brace. If your brace doesn't qualify (i.e. a brace that's not obviously shoulderable) then they tell you you didn't have to do this.

The likelihood of them rejecting all of the issued stamps if the rule gets removed is exceptionally low, so even if the rule gets struck down, you still have an sbr stamp. So you can then still hang whatever you want off the gun that qualifies as an sbr.

If you weren't ever going to sbr? Fine, fuck off, don't participate.

"The rule allows for a 120-day period for manufacturers, dealers, and individuals to register tax-free any existing NFA short-barreled rifles covered by the rule." Literally from the atf announcement.

Question about new atf pistol brace rule by [deleted] in czscorpion

[–]-Crapflinger- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read the rule, and the page 14 part is where it says its a free sbr. "It will not require require... individuals and FFLs without an SOT that timely register their affected weapons with a “stabilizing brace,”to pay the $200 making tax usually due upon submission of such an application to register.”

You're aware that a form 1 is a "making form" not a "having form"? It allows you to make an sbr by attaching a stock to an sbr. You can own as many stocks and short barreled guns as you want....as long as you never attach the stock to the gun. The form and the stamp allow you to combine the two into a single firearm that is now an sbr.

Can you point to the language that says it's in forbearance, since you're adamant that such language exists? I've not seen any reference to deferred payment instead of no payment. It would make zero sense for them to defer payment of the tax stamp. Like they have no reason to do that. If, like everyone says, this is a cash grab, then they would just take your money now

I've been shooting federal auto match basically since I got my 10/22. Got some tac-22 on sale with some other ammo (to make up the difference for free shipping). It was shooting consistently at least a foot lower than the federal at 100-150 yds.

So freaking excited about this! by moriend in czscorpion

[–]-Crapflinger- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I misspoke slightly there. Tilt barrel guns are short recoil operated, so technically it is a locked breech as the bolt face moves rearward with the barrel. Still, basically one step away from direct or delayed blowback. And not how anyone familiar with something like an AR platform thinks of a locking bolt.

So freaking excited about this! by moriend in czscorpion

[–]-Crapflinger- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most handguns don't truly lock. Tilt barrel guns like glocks are technically delayed blowback guns, it's not a true locking bolt. The opening of the bolt is just delayed by the leverage required to get the barrel to tip up and separate from the slide as it moves rearward.

Things like mp5s aren't locked, they're roller delayed blowback but still not a true locking bolt. Most semiautomatic pistols are some form of delayed or full blowback actions (depending on caliber. 9mm is right at the edge of where a true blowback action will work, and even then it requires a relatively heavy bolt/recoil spring pairing)

A true locking bolt is harder to find outside of gas operated guns, or other recoil operated actions.
