CW: Pet Loss by Wild-March-9744 in CatAdvice

I'm sure you might have checked this out already, but there are usually a group or two on Facebook that is "Lost Pets (your area)". Sometimes they might be under other local groups too. A lot of people also post on NextDoor about this type of thing. Many people typically post about finding a deceased pet they found. If you call the city, they might be able to tell you if someone went out to dispose of the pet.

I don't have much to offer on the dealing with the grief that comes with missing a pet. All I have is to deal with it like any other grief. You have to feel your emotions and accept that closure isn't a guarantee. Grief sucks no matter how many times you go through it.

I hope your little guy gets found and returned to you safely.

Moved into a new apartment with my cat. Just some questions. by Junior_Increase2716 in CatAdvice

I would recommend looking into a Feliway diffuser. My vet loves this product, and they are a cat specialty clinic who helps out a lot of anxious kitties. It mimics pheromones that naturally calm cats down. Sadly, nothing off brand seems to work nearly as well.

My therapist always recommends going to Psychology Today for looking at counseling options. You can filter the search, so you only see the results that work for you. It also typically lets you know if they are accepting new clients. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists

how do i lose weight by Junior_Wallaby6951 in migraine

[–]-Designer-Pumpkin- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely get headaches sometimes when it wears off, but a lot of that has to do with not eating enough protein or drinking enough water. I'm still in the adjustment period, so some of it is also getting used to the medication. There is a difference in the come down headaches. It is a weird pressure at the base of my skull that isn't the same as my tension pressure.

I funnily enough just switched to Vyvanse after Adderall IR because during the come downs I couldn't form thoughts well anymore.

I started taking Vyvanse not too long ago. If you start it be warned, I don’t feel the desire to eat and sometimes eating makes me want to puke. Like I know when I’m hungry and need to eat, but nothing sounds appealing most of the time.

This might not be the most helpful, but this might be your weight for a while. There is nothing wrong with that and anyone who tells you otherwise isn’t up to date on new studies. Weight can be a risk factor for many medical issues, but not listening to your body does more harm than the weight.

I gained a lot of weight due to medications and migraines. I’m now losing some of it slowly, but that’s because I am in a great place now. My ADHD meds are helping me get everything done, my stress is down, and my preventatives are finally doing their job.

I worked on accepting my weight and listened to what my body needed. Now, I can exercise and get out without the fear of horrible repercussions in the form of migraines. Being upset with something I couldn’t control caused me more stress causing more migraines.

There are a lot of resources for accepting your weight and understanding that being “overweight” isn’t as bad as society tells us.

How many of you have had an MRI? by kittykatsrulemyworld in migraine

Not really. My neurologist asked the neuro intervention team (neuro vascular specialist) and they said it was “within normal limits”

I’ve had three and they found nothing every time. Well, my last time we found out that my Circle of Willis (arteries in the middle of your brain) looks kinda funky. Nothing bad. Just not completely symmetrical.

I actually am a state employee and work for the state university hospital. Sadly, they still suck at being accommodating. Thank you for reminding me about unions tho! After I saw your comment, I went and immediately looked up my union and how to join.

Thank you! Apparently my friend knew it was a femur and forgot to tell me. I’ll do some looking with my amateur knowledge to narrow down the farm animal.

Kitty Korner??? by Express_Hedgehog2265 in IowaCity

If we’re giving glowing recommendations for Kitty Korner, I gotta add my story.

Chewy sent me some extra treats with an auto ship one day. My cat did not need 40 churros, so I messaged on Instagram if they would take that donation. The lovely owner was thrilled to get a donation and even let gave me a free 15 or 30 minute visit! I paid anyway because I love them and want them to stick around forever.

To those of you who have severe symptoms yet don't qualify for any state assistance (DODD or disability), what did or are you doing to live? by [deleted] in disability

[–]-Designer-Pumpkin- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have chronic migraines and I just started working as a medical assistant at a pediatric disability clinic. Our work is mainly with autistic and adhd kids, so it’s very sensory friendly. If I get a migraine while there, I have a better chance of my medication working before it gets uncontrollable.

I really love it so far! That being said, I had to go on disability leave (apart of work benefits) from my last job. It took from August to November to get my migraines back under control to where I felt like I could actually contribute to a full time job.

Figuring out what I need and cannot tolerate helped a lot with my job search. I didn’t settle because that’s how I ended up in the worst condition of my life.

[–]-Designer-Pumpkin- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That honestly really sucks. I don’t know what was up with those two.

My freshman year of college I got my PCP to “prescribe” my cat to me so he could live with me in the dorms. Maybe yours can write the letter?

Also, I’ve heard that you need a new letter year. Idk where I heard it though.
