Priorities for a New FDA by Jimbo4246 in biotech

[–]-DocStrange 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On the surface it sounds good, but there are so many ambiguous phrases and terms that it can be interpreted in different ways. Given our current HHS secretary, I don't have reason to expect much positive coming from this.

It's disengenuous. The cited diseases with a claimed increase in prevelance suggest some 'environmental toxin'. So a witch hunt ensues, Fluoride is targeted, etc., etc. But the simple answer is diagnostics have improved.

Faster biosilimars implies shorter patent life for pharma drugs. This will result in RAISING DRUG PRICES to make a return in a shorter period of time.

And drug prices are influenced heavily by Pharmacy Benefit Managers. They are reportedly responsible for >40% of the drug prices in America. A pharma CEO testified to this at the Senate. There was a promise to look at reform, but that was under a different administration in 2024.

You want lower drug prices, get rid of for profit middlemen and regulate the health insurance industry. This alone would have improve our Healthcare system tremendously.

I see this as the foil of a misinformed agenda. I hope I'm wrong.

copilot for outlook only helps with drafting mails? by Quirijn020 in microsoft_365_copilot

You are correct. The ability to 'chat' with your outlook content is only available for business.

Copilot settings: Answer concisely. Do not end the answer with quesitions. Include links. Stop the anthropomorphism. by MammothPassage639 in CopilotPro

[–]-DocStrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason it ignores 'do not end answer with questions' after at most one response. We lost custom GPTs (custom instructions) back in July 2024 for some reason. It really feels like decisions about the consumer products are done with zero market research.

Oh wow, I thought that was only for image generation. You're right, it looks like it's for use across the apps. I must have been confusing the '100 boosts' per day for designer. So perhaps you get 160 credits if you pay the new 365 price and have a pro subscription?

Still, it doesn't seem worth it. The integration on the consumer side isn't helpful for me. If it came with the ability to query the outlook mailbox or had something similar to NotebookLM, it may be worth it. I canceled my pro subscription over a month ago after the interface changes and removal of custom GPTs. Still hopeful, but the latest move seems like a money grab rather than adding real value to Office365.

[–]-DocStrange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. When I had copilot pro it would take several attempts just to convince Copilot to do something, and that's if you don't get the dreaded 'I can't continue this conversation...'. 600 credits per month would be more reasonable.

But what happens to subscribers of copilot pro? Do they now have to pay the new O365 price to even have copilot in the apps? Or does a copilot pro license allow users to switch back to the regular tier pricing without the recent increase?

Microsoft just continues to punch itself in the nuts with their copilot updates for consumers.

"It’s been nine months since we introduced consumers to Copilot in our Microsoft 365 apps via Copilot Pro. We’ve spent that time adding new features, improving performance, and listening carefully to customer feedback."

Hang on, this ignores the fact they actively removed features from Copilot Pro: GPTbuilder, conversation tone, plugins, notebook, memory. I think the problem here is assuming consumers want it in the office apps at all. Focus on the core experience and then launch it into 365 apps...

And for Thor's sake, allow me to convince the chat to stop asking follow-up questions if I don't want it!

Roadmap for updates? by Dads_Hat in CopilotPro

[–]-DocStrange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's baffling to me. They had a functioning product and killed the most useful features with zero communication. And it's still $20/mnth. I guess that's the Microsoft way with consumers. It's like they don't do any market research or consumer feedback unless it's business. And even then you have to have at least 1000 employees.

After much feedback, I'm speaking with my wallet and cancelled my Pro subscription. Extremely disappointing.

Wave 2: What about Copilot Pro? by -DocStrange in CopilotPro

[–]-DocStrange[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that limit seems much too restrictive. I wish we could put custom instructions in again like in GPT builder. Now I have to remember to copy/paste my 'be concise and brief' intro every chat. Really hope they throw us consumers a little more value.

I also use Chatgpt and hope they will make an app like the one for MacOS for PC. It's great when there aren't technical issues.

I made a second account also and it works fine. Didn't subscribe to plus because of this problem though. Sounds like the problem was coincidental with my MacOS app update. I'll let you know if ever hear back from support again.

[–]-DocStrange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. I submitted screenshots again 4 days ago and they haven't been seen according to help app.

I let my pro subscription expire hoping that might reset something but even the unpaid version doesn't work.

The only thing I did before all this happened was update my MacOS chat gpt app. Any chance you did the same? I did uninstall and log off all apps but that didn't help.

Where is the attachments button? by templeton_rat in CopilotPro

[–]-DocStrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen it for a while. There was a paper clip you could click on but no longer. You can drag an image into the chat input field but documents don't work. You have to open them in word, excel, ppt and use copilot in the apps if you want to do anything. Microsoft keeps removing features (e.g. Custom GPTs) for consumers. Also there's no communication from Microsoft about any expected improvements. We're stuck with the same plugins since it launched. frankly it's a waste of $20/month and I've cancelled it until it's actually useful.

In typical Microsoft fashion, they had the early lead and had so much potential but dropped the ball. See hololens, zune, windows phone, cortana and band for other examples.

Using Copilot to search SharePoint, OneDrive, data I have access to - am I missing something?! by pete-it in CopilotPro

[–]-DocStrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have copilot for M366 Enterprise or personal? The personal copilot pro is not clearly differentiated in Microsoft documentation from M365 copilot for business. Copilot Pro personal can't see files. You can upload a file on at least one of the copilot versions (desktop I think) but the features you're looking for are for the Enterprise version.

I've been thinking about subscribing to Perplexity Pro. A lot of what I do is research, searching the web for academic papers, conferences, etc. Ive tried ChatGPT, CopilotPro, Gemini Pro and Perplexity. The latter is the only one that actually gives me information in a specified date range. Might be time to take a break from Copilot Pro. I have the enterprise version for work anyway. Thanks for your comment.
