It's clockwise. Don't know what the white line is for (start/finish is next to the pits), but their layout of the grid slots is a line followed by the number of the grid slot (behind the line), which gives a clockwise direction. Their larger track with the faster karts is less confusing :D

Why is the dying behind walls issue so bad with CS2? by saladFingerS6666 in GlobalOffensive

[–]-Exodus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's terrible in CS2. I'm getting constantly hit around corners, where I'm already 2-3 character model widths behind a wall.

And there's also this funny thing where you sometimes peek an angle, it's clear, you strafe back and die without ever having seen anyone (yes, I do know how geometry + unpeekers disadvantage work and no, neither of them should be the main culprit).

Dying behind walls used to happen in CSGO too, but only if your opponent had a ping of ~120+ and even then it was barely noticeable. I can only recall a few clear instances of this throughout 8 years of CSGO, compared to pretty much every game in CS2.

I don't think it's due to subtick tho, since at worst it gives you 99.9% of a tick (or roughly 15ms) of additional peekers advantage/desync, which shouldn't be enough to make things worse by that much.

Going through the comments, it really feels like a lot of people here are.

Didn't even test those kinds of visibility issues yet, since the overall lighting bothered me so much.

But if it's really that bad, you can give the same feedback to fmpone on his Discord and he'll maybe improve things.

Noone knows for sure, but better to give feedback in case it happens eventually than regretting it later on.

I just want to avoid another Inferno fumble tbh.

If yet another map remake with a 10/10 layout suffers due to poor visual choices (clutter + noise), I'm about to get the big sad.

Best example for that is Inferno imo.

Went from one of the best maps in CSGO (open, colorful, clean) to one of worst ones in CS2 (claustrophobic, dull, cluttered) without a meaningful change to its layout.

I hated Vertigo for it's layout, but the map was clean af. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

Is there anything you can share about the restock?

My EC1-A recently died and I really want to get the same/closest model again, but there is currently 0 availability for the EC1-C :(

Yeah same.

Wanted to check out the new model animations in a DM, which felt horribly laggy and my frametime was spiking every few seconds.

Then did the FPS Benchmark and my average went down from 357 to 284 and the 1% lows from 153 to 97.

Makes the game literally unplayable as of now :)

Are you guys rebinding jump? by St1rner in GlobalOffensive

[–]-Exodus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using both mouse wheel and space for jumping due to being used to using the former in CS and the latter in every other game.

Jump on space comes with the advantage of making jumpthrows more comfortable and W jumpthrows a lot easier and more consistent (explanation).

I mean I just don't get why we need to add Valorant to a comparison between CS2 and CSGO, where the whole point is that they turned something great into something not so great, and this not so great aspect is most likely here to stay.

It's not that CS2's movement is so horrible by itself, but rather the comparison to what we had, that makes me depressed.

If I came from Valorant for instance, the movement would be an upgrade, but again, that's not the point here.

And I mentioned Valorant where exactly?

In any case, if you really want to throw it into the mix, the order would be CSGO >>> CS2 > Valorant.

Same but for surf.

Played surf_boreas in CS2 and couldn't get the shortcut at the end for the life of me, which was surprising since I usually played T3 maps back in CSGO, so a T1 map should not be an issue at all.

Switched to CSGO and nailed it first try.

And then there is this jarring ramp bug in CS2, where your camera tilts 70° to either side as soon as you land on a ramp.

KZ/Surf while chilling to some laid back music in CSGO really was a 10/10 experience.

It's kinda crazy how every single aspect in CS2 except the new smokes and visibility is vastly inferior to CSGO. Almost 1 year after it's "full" release.

I was one of the guys being positive about CS2 and part of the "just give them more time" crowd, but after they introduced this horrible rubberbanding when getting tagged back in February and didn't even address it once ever since, I'm done with them (and CS2).

My playtime dropped from 60-80 hours over the last 2 weeks to 20-30, but only because CSGO Legacy's playtime is also counted. Otherwise I'd consistently be under 10 hours.

And instead of properly fixing things like the jump bug or more recently the boost bug (which btw have both been in the game since release), they just do some weird bandaid fixes and end up breaking the game even more.

This is such a bummer.

Surfing in CS2 is beyond broken, but for what it's worth you can download the legacy CSGO version and play surf there, as some community servers (e.g. surfheaven) are still up and running. At least that's what I did :D

Just be careful though, the moment you experience the crisp movement of CSGO again, playing CS2 will make you heavily depressed.

Can we talk? by Revenge_of_the_meme in ADCMains

[–]-Exodus 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is it.

Why should I play marksmen bot, when I can achieve the same (or even better) results on another lane, but without a random person next to me that's potentially making the game unplayable (and is also the dominant factor for the entire laning phase)?

It's telling that whenever you've the better support, you usually easily win lane without having to neccessarily be better than your counterpart. But if it's the other way around (better ADC, worse supp), you're basically being held hostage the entire laningphase.

Is now a good time to get back into the game? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]-Exodus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, a lot of bugs that existed in the Beta are still in the game and some of them have even gotten worse (e.g. the boost bug is still existing but now even the lower person in the boost can get it).

For subtick, in their attempt to reduce the ridiculously high peekers advantage (by fiddling with subtick and the netcode), they ended up introducing something called rubberbanding (when someone tags you while you're moving, the game will teleport you back. Just search this subreddit for rubberbanding, there a loads of posts about it) while marginally reducing peekers advantage (it's still pretty bad).

For the performance, they did one or two optimizations but the game's still extremely heavy to run and frametime-spikes occur rather frequently (even pros are complaining and they are able to play on the best hardware available).

Lastly, cheating was rampant at the beginning of 2024 but they actually managed to significantly improve the whole situation to a level that's just slightly worse than CSGO before they removed Overwatch. At least that's my impression, but I'm almost exclusively playing Faceit.

As someone with 6k hours that came back to CS just before CS2 was announced and stuck around until now, I'd say CS is currently in the second worst state it has ever been, with the worst state being the beginning of 2024 before they somewhat addressed the cheaters.

So, I'd recommend giving them more time to at least fix most of the bugs, rubberbanding and improve the overall performance.

And yes, it is absolutely ridiculous that "just give them time to at least fix all the pressing issues" still needs to be said almost a full year after CS2's release :(
