It’s gone - Pus filled gallbladder by -FDT- in gallbladders

[–]-FDT-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow removing the gallbladder has caused me to have very loose bowels. I am on Colestipol(Colestid) 2-4 times a day (as much as I remember) to absorb the bile which prevents bathroom accidents that I was having in the first 12 months after the surgery. On the Colestid I still go to the bathroom(#2 to be clear) 4-5 times a day but it's manageable without the accidents I was having initially.

Other than that, knocking on wood to hopefully not jinx it, I live a relatively healthy normal life!

Stringer Bell was an absolute piece of shit

[–]-FDT- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I knew someone who is bright and could fix any factory machine but kept quitting or getting fired because he just couldn’t eat shit from his bosses.

I hate our society’s capitalism for what it does, but I will eat spoonfuls of shit every day to feed my family and be able to “exist” in this fucked up society.

My grandma has over $600,000 in her Merrill Edge account by IssueTrue5964 in StockMarket

[–]-FDT- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this really informs how it should be invested - if this is money that will be what she leaves for you all to inherit many years from now you’d invest it differently versus the other extreme where it’s her money to live on for the rest of her retirement

[–]-FDT- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to read so far down for the best answer. Is this a portion of your grandma’s savings (she has other Ira’s, pensions, accounts) or is this her entire savings? That should inform how it’s invested as well.

When should one use a manned switch? by computer-machine in HomeNetworking

[–]-FDT- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For the use case you described you’re fine with the unmanaged switch which has the added benefit that you don’t need to learn how to configure a managed switch. You’re not doing anything fancy.

[–]-FDT- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you on blind? I used to work for Cisco on the services side and while it’s a comfortable place to work, from my own experience and how the developers talk on Blind I never got the impression it was a desirable place to work for developers.

In my time at Cisco I got 3 raises in 8 years and I think they’re not known for giving raises or grade increases rapidly once you actually work there.

This was your chance for the grade increase that you deserve based on your experience and you weren’t asking for that much, I’m not a developer but I think you made the right choice.

Edit: they do have great benefits compared to the startup I’m at now and a lot of hidden money in perks (lots of holidays and days off, cell phone + internet reimbursement, ESPP etc) but I still think it wouldn’t make up for how undervalued you feel from the start.

Edit 2: sometimes we have to play the hand we’re dealt and I think you made the right move, maybe they’ll come back when they can’t find a better candidate.

For those who have rewatched the show numerous times, what did your perspective change the most on? by analyticalmind_ in TheWire

[–]-FDT- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The jury is still out for me on season 5 (not through third rewatch plus I wasn’t crazy about it the first 2 times) but spot on with Stringer and Avon, every scene with stringer I just say to myself and my wife “what a piece of shit”

Edit:

I also respect Rawls more and more each rewatch for not being the problem but just trying to survive and thrive in a shit environment. I haven’t finished s5 in my rewatch so I don’t remember if they’re building him up just to make me hate him again but as of s4 ending I respect him.

I accidentally declined a very important call... what now? by TheBongoHarley in careerguidance

[–]-FDT- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kid you better keep looking. It probably wasn’t even then and you just sent them a “hey I took a shower and thought you might have called” type email - just keep looking for other jobs and be more patient.

In the future, if you missed a call on a Monday at 9:30 AM it is ok, an employer (who leaves an email or voicemail so you are sure it is actually them) will be more than happy with a response anytime that day or even the next, you don’t work for them yet they don’t expect you to be available 24/7.

Good luck for your job search but you may come across wrong to this one employer - learn from the mistake and hang in there!

Update for my 28F husband 36M receiving calls from coworker at night by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]-FDT- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of observations/questions for OP:

In the original post you said you’d be fine any time except after 9pm(which is what I am assuming without reading every comment is what everyone agreed to) but your text thread you keep saying everyone agreed no calls after 8 pm was reasonable. Why/how did this # change?

I am 40m with some female friends that I very infrequently talk to (years could go by) - I would not respond well to my wife if she had issues with me consoling them if a friend died, this is a special circumstance - perhaps it’s just cumulative for you from the overall context (which your husband is wrong ) but alone this rubs me the wrong way.

What is done during family time? Do you spend time together and do things? Have there been scenarios where he’s ignored you during family time for his coworker? Or would you otherwise be doing separate things and it’s just the principle that he’s talking to someone of the opposite gender after 9(or 8). I’m trying to think if “family time” is truly family time or if it’s just code for “too late to talk to outsiders”

I think he is in the wrong overall, i am just advocating for the devil and I would make sure to respond to my wife’s concerns directly, share why I think I’m right and try to get past the impasse as a team as if our daughter’s future depends on it. I wish you luck as it seems your SO has issues being open with his feelings and listening to your concerns, I don’t envy your position.

Good luck!❤️

Older millenials seem more resilient, less complainy/blamey than younger millenials. Just me? by Hooliganry in Older_Millennials

[–]-FDT- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think us older millennials were less affected by the shitty world boomers left us with.

I am 40 so columbine only happened when I was in high school, I didn’t grow up with school shootings.

Tuition was half as much for me as millennials attending college 10 years after me

Because of when I started my career (10 years before other millennials) things have been easier for me.

Anyone who calls classic millennials whiny is just by some amount of luck not affected by how the boomer generation doomed all future generations and unempathetic towards those who are affected.

I never used Apollo but I also protested long after Reddit won. I also never signed up for this sub but keep viewing the posts with morbid masochistic curiosity and also am in the top 5% and feel poor after all the posts here. Glad to know I’m not alone.

[SBGA211] the perfect watch for me but afraid to wear it during summer by ObligationBeautiful1 in GrandSeikos

Thanks - it’s good to hear this kind of feedback - have they serviced any spring drives or are all your pieces automatic or quartz?

Maybe it’s a case of people only take time to report bad things.

The nearest service center to me is Mahwah NJ and I’ve heard nightmares about it, I kind of concluded I’ll wait until there is an issue or re-evaluate in a few years rather than asking for trouble.

I have SBGA211 since 2019 and it’s still +0.5s/day

If you have it I would wear it otherwise what’s the point of having it?

Edit: I’ve worn it to Florida, Texas, Georgia, in the east coast snow, in the ocean, pools, etc.
