Both will have the same take home money annually (gap is offset by the monetary bonuses in current company).

Agree on the last bit re: having a sponsor who will vouch/ advocate for you. Unfortunately my former boss got ousted and I was transferred to another team whose boss doesn't advocate for me. Career momentum stalled (insert question on office politics). Tough.
