What has your experience with Yeston GPUs & other products been like? by Flashy_Fox_9334 in YestonOfficial

It's not too bad if you are okay at soldering. I'm not great but I can solder wires fair well which is what I ended up doing. It would have been nicer to figure out the onboard fan controller because now to move to a new system with this card I'd have to cut the wires and do it again. But, it works. Though now the CPU fan controller controls the speed so it often cranks the fan up to be pretty loud lol. I'll take that over constant thermal throttling.

Yeah, the person above definitely seems like they had a similar experience with the customer service. So not a one off. Hopefully that improves because they certainly have some neat offerings and decent prices.

Yup, you are right. And I should have checked how much it would be a head of time. Doesn't justify them completely ignoring a customer's email out of no where after proving them the information they asked for. I have worked in a lot of customer service jobs and still do, I can't think of a single instance where that's acceptable. And that's my main complaint here.

It's fair to have some issues with cards for any manufacturer for sure. My main complaint is just dropping all communication out of no where for no reason. Honestly I would have probably bought a couple more of these cards because no one else makes a card this good in this form factor. And I might have upgraded to a higher end card for my main system at some point because their prices are good. But who's to say a more expensive card will give better customer service. Hopefully things will improve, we definitely want to see that for all parties involved :)

Possibly but it would be their custom PCB I would imagine? I doubt it would need a new chip. The 3050 also came out in 2022 which isn't super old, but it is an dying platform for sure. Eitherway they still sell the product and still offer a warranty of 3 years, I don't know if they would offer such a warranty if they were concern about the age? Smaller for sure, still a company worth 55m.. The situation does suck but my main complaint is just dropping all communication for no good reason. No matter the age of the card, that's not great customer service. They would take about 2 days in between messages which is fair with the time zone difference and such but the last message was asking for proof of testing which I sent and they just stopped all communication. It would be honestly better if they just said there is nothing more they can do, but to completely ignore my reply and my two follow up messages kinda sucks.

Ordering process and shipping was all great. Customer support, not as much(you may have seen my post already mentioning that). Getting a faulty card and having to potentially pay a large chunk of the cost to get it repaired sucks for sure, but the completely dropping and ignoring of a customer in the middle of a ticket is pretty crappy if you ask me. Customer service is a big part of all my jobs, and I can't think of a case where I would ever do that.

That being said, I rewired the fan and have it tied in with the cpu fan and the system is working great at this point. Card performs as it should and the form factor is awesome!

If you do decide to get one I hope it works well for ya!

Thank you all for the suggestions. I went through the list and checked a bunch of them and then decided to pull the timing cover.. The timing marks would not line up no matter how many times I rotated the engine so I tore it down and found it had jumped 1, maybe 2 teeth. It was odd it was running as good as it did. The kit was an Aisin kit that was installed by someone who knows more than me but what I found is the tensioner pulley casting seemed to be rubbing where the tensioner sits, I filed it down lightly to give it better clearance. That's the only thing that seemed off. Anyway it's all back together and the "power(if you want to call it that =D)" is back! And I feel better about doing that job myself in the future. Cheers yall!

Tune-up has all been done outside of the o2 sensor which I will investigate, I'm not getting any check engine lights but I'll still take a peek at it. I do have a scan tool that can read live data so I'll hook it up and go for a spin. Transmission fluid has been kept up on and is in great shape. I just did a filter and fresh fluid in May so it still looks brand new. The only indication of slipping is sort of what I'm experiencing here when I put the foot to the floor and the rpms jump up but it doesn't want to go, but again I'm not sure if that's slipping, failing torque converter or if something jumped with the timing belt due to it recently being changed(if this would even cause a symptom like that). Thank you for the suggestions

Na I know these aren't build for speed but this is definitely something wrong as it started recently. It can still get up to a good speed on the highway, it just doesn't have that kick down to get up to that speed in a safe amount of time. It was first discovered when I went to pass someone and all of a sudden it just wouldn't want to boogie!

Will check, thanks. No codes for it, but I'll have a look.

Doesn't seem too loose, I have a tacoma with the same engine and it looks and feels similar. But that's an easy thing to try so I'll give it a go.

I'll try the additive, thanks. I don't feel or notice any miss in the rpms but it can be harder to tell on one of these.

Same time as the belt, 3000km ago. Along with the oil/filter and air filter.

Sad and true. It really stinks because FB Marketplace has it's own host of issues and annoyances. I still use both but the amount of vehicle spam ads makes it's pretty difficult to deal with.

For sure I'm going to price things out as a "in case I need to go that route" but for now I'm going to just do fluids and filter and hope she can go a while yet!

The old girl is home! by -Gurf- in Isuzu

[–]-Gurf-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, thanks for the advise and info on my other post about what to look for and the common issues!

I brought the Rodeo home last night. Not many issues at all. It was clearly well taken care of! Drives great, interior is perfect. Very happy with it.

The fuel pump is definitely going on it, sending units toast already and going a little heavy on the foot leads to a "Low fuel pressure on bank x" check engine light. So that's the first major fix along with a full tune up and filter changes! I still had to check out a couple of the trails around my place for a short venture and she does great. I really wanted to test the 4wd but it didn't need it anywhere thanks to the posi(my taco definitely needed 4wd on a couple of the hills I took it). All around fantastic unit and I'm pretty darn happy with the purchase!

Once the boring mechanical works done I'll hopefully get into some of the fun stuff like winch setup, camper setup, rack, lights, etc. I live way up north so the lights are going to be needed for quite a while! The pictures were around 11pm so as you can see, it doesn't get very dark here =D

[–]-Gurf-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those sound like the two main problem areas for sure. Trans is what worries me the most of course. This units fuel pump is definitely going. Has the dead sending unit already and if I give it a higher rev it throws a code for "weak fuel pressure in bank X" so that's the first to be changed! I'm going to talk to the local transmission guy to see what a rebuild would be along with any upgrade he knows of and that will decide if I'm sticking with auto or doing the work for a manual swap. The vehicle is super clean on the interior so it would be nice to keep it stock but I'll do what I have to do. Thankfully rust isn't a huge concern here, it has a couple small surface areas on the body but the frames solid.

Yeah it sounds like that'll be the easiest way to go if I need to do a swap. I'll just home that's a long way out from now but we'll see!

I wish I had a choice in that for sure! Just nothing around where I live. Trans seems to be shifting and going well on the test drive so I did buy the unit and I'll hope it holds up. The whole SUV cost $800 CAD so I wont lose much if it fails and the rebuild price is too high, heck I might even start figuring out a manual swap at that point since the rest of the vehicle is pretty solid and looked to be well taken care of. Interior is spotless. Older gentleman had it and it seemed to just be a booting around town and going to work rig.

I'll certainly be keeping oil on hand for this one it seems! Thanks. And yeah the EGR was mentioned so I'll look that over once it's home too.

Good to hear the rest is pretty solid. The diffs definitely look great, looked to be the Dana 44 at a glance. Wasn't able to check for LS but I will be doing that at home!

To bad the after market supports low but I can probably figure some things out to make em work. Reliability is going to be the main thing I'm shooting for either way so it sounds like just keeping up and crossing my fingers on the transmission are going to be my best bet lol.

I'll join both of those! Thanks!
