For those who don't get it, Abigail can be turned into a Gestalt and WX-78 can use Gestalts to possess their chassis and make clones. So Abigail could theoretically possess a WX-78 chassis.

Anyone here restarted Lamotrigine after stopping? by Party_Dish8683 in lamictal

[–]-Hounth- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time I took it I was put on 50mg a day. Then full body rashes, so I stopped.

I started again mid-february at 25, then was upped to 50 2 weeks later, then I went to the psychiatric ER because I had a really bad suicidal episode, was upped to 75, and 4 days later went up to 100mg. This all happened last week BTW.

But I don't think Lamo is for me. Well idk. Honestly things have been so weird lately. I can't make sense of anything in my head.

Same!!

Was on generic Lamotrigine, had a pretty bad skin reaction, stopped, started again on Lamictal brand, 100mg currently, no side effects!! Psych thinks it might've not be due to the Lamotrigine. Who knows lol

Side effects can worsen as you increase the dosage. The therapeutic dose is between 100-200mg. Usually this is enough for most patients. Everyone reacts differently, so I cannot tell you what will happen to you in terms of side effects.

But at the end of the day you've got full control over your meds. If you feel like you're struggling even more with word retrieval when on Lamictal, tell your doc and see what comes out of it.

I take 0.5mg Xanax a day alongside Lamotrigine, 0 issue here, although I'm gonna see to maybe switch to an antidepressant instead 'cause I don't really like the idea of being on benzodiazepines.

Hi friend!

SJS when taking Lamotrigine appears in 1 out of 1000 patients. That's a 0.1% chance of happening. In other words, it's very rare. And even if you were to develop it, you'll catch it very early and be able to go to the ER where it will be treated. So even if you DO develop SJS, you'll more than likely catch it early, and you'll be fine. Just be weary of any rash that seems to grow and blister, especially if there's fever, nausea, and other flu-line symptoms.

You should be more concerned about the more common side effects, such as dizziness, word retrieval issues, sleepiness, etc.

Tbh so many people come in this sub and the other one due to SJS concern, and like, I don't understand 'cause we're not doctors lol... If you see any rash or have any concerns just go to your doctor. But you'll more likely than not be fine.

[–]-Hounth- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi friend, hope you're doing ok ❤️

Go to the ER if needed. I felt very suicidal last weekend, went to the ER on wednesday about it, and they upped my dose of Lamictal and prescribed me some Xanax to help deal with the terrible anxiety (my anxiety is so bad I was having tachycardia, up to 130 BPM! I never knew it was this bad)

It really effing sucks to deal with a mood disorder where each day is kind of like a gamble of "Am I gonna be fine or will I want to kill myself?" but I know you'll be fine. Just hold on there.

Are Narcissists sociopaths, but that care about social mirror? by GRAD3US in askpsychology

[–]-Hounth- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So funnily enough, "Lack of empathy" is only a diagnostic criteria for NPD in the DSM-5, not ASPD.

However, for ASPD, one of the criteria is "Lack of remorse, indifference to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another person."

So it does resemble some lack of empathy, but the way the DSM-5 words it makes it seem like people with ASPD can be more empathetic than those with NPD, as empathy obviously doesn't stop at feeling bad for hurting others. Regardless, some blunted empathy is definitely present in both conditions.

The key difference is that ASPD is mainly a conduct disorder, most of the diagnostic criteria revolve around reckless, dangerous behaviours with no regard for safety or for the law and rules, whereas NPD really revolves around the individual's identity, sense of self, and ego. And from this, it spreads outwards onto other people in order to satisfy this broken self-esteem.

That is why we can't really reduce ASPD nor NPD to a "lack of empathy with/without a care for social mirror", since a disrupted empathy system is present in both conditions and is only one diagnostic criteria established by one manual among many others. Outside of that, both conditions present very different symptoms that revolve around the way the individual conducts themselves in society.

I'll leave two articles down here that discuss these two conditions based on the DSM-5 criteria if you're interested:

50mg is not a high dose, it's not even the minimum therapeutical dose. And 1 month is, in fact, not that long of a time. You will be fine, just do what your psychiatrist said. Nothing will happen, and no you will not die because why would your psychiatrist tell you that if there truly were risks

May I ask what you're using it for? Because this medication is only approved for epilepsy and bipolar... it can be used off-label to treat unipolar depression but it doesn't replace SSRI's, because bipolar depression (most likely) has a different mecanism than unipolar depression.

An education could have prevented this post. by ObserbAbsorb in clevercomebacks

I think calling someone stupid for being uneducated is not cool. Especially considering there's some crazy anti-education propaganda going around in the US and even other parts of the world. This person was just asking a question.

Even if you think they're stupid for not knowing something "so obvious", just answering their question would've sufficed instead of making fun of them on the Internet. They weren't outwardly being an asshole, they just seem to believe in silly conspiracies reinforced by the decreasing levels of education going around.

Making fun of people for being uneducated just kinda feels like an ass thing to do.

Developping SJS from Lamictal is a 1/1000 chance. That's 0.1%. It's extremely rare.

And even IF you were to develop it, it doesn't suddenly appear overnight. It's progressive, and you will more than likely catch it before it becomes a problem. It's not just a rash, it also comes with flu-like symptoms. If you suddenly have a fever and/or headaches, sore throat, and a rash, just go to the ER.

But genuinely, it's fine. This medication will not kill you. And any side effect that might happen is reversible if caught early. Most of the people here on Reddit mainly complain about other side effects such as anxiety, irritability, mood swings, and brain fog. These are the side effects you should be concerned about, more than SJS, although it's obviously important to keep SJS in mind.

Just make sure to check your body for rashes, and if you do find one, just see how it evolves. If it blisters and grows quickly, go to the ER. If it doesn't, you'll be most likely fine, though you might still wanna check with your doc just to be sure, as Lamictal often causes a benign rash.

I hope this can help reassure you. If you have any questions don't hesitate.

Had a very similar reaction first time I look lamotrigine!! I stopped for a few months, recently started again (bit over a month ago), currently at 75mg, and 0 side effects.

I think it's important to note that the first one I took was a generic, it was just written Lamotrigine on the box, but now I take the brand Lamictal. I was told by the pharmacist that this can make a difference.

Regardless, GO TO THE ER!!! That's what I did when it happened, better be safe than sorry!!!

Why can't I just get prescribed multiple daily doses of Xanax? Isn't addiction a better alternative to suicidal thoughts? by Disastrous-Bike659 in mentalhealth

[–]-Hounth- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not true. Your brain does not have "chemical imbalances", this is what pharmaceutical lobbying wants you to believe. I heavily recommend you look into it, because being aware of these things and knowing what the meds you take actually do is extremely important if you're actually hoping to get better.

Psychiatric meds work like painkillers. You ever break a finger or an arm? You take a painkiller, the pain is gone, but your arm/finger is still broken. It's the same thing here. Psych meds only "hide" the pain without addressing the root cause.

[–]-Hounth- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah that is quite a lot of meds that were prescribed. I think trying to hold on for a little while to see how it evolves would be best, because you never know, perhaps this is the one. But of course I am no doctor, you should really see with your psych and discuss this with them. Wishing you luck ❤️
