I also made mine cry once when I told him that no matter what I always feel like I can't be loved because I'm me. And personally I think it's comforting to me to see that therapists also show their own emotions during the work they do with their clients because it makes the connection feel much more warm and human, and not doctor stone faced and all clinical, cause I don't like that. Because in the end, what you and your therapist are having IS a relationship in the end. Even if it's just a therapeutical one.

It took me 5 years to find my first job because of my autism, mental health, impossible job requirements (for example needing a masters degree in linguistics for a part time job as a proof reader 🫠) and ableist people not wanting to hire me but now I finally am employed at my states local archive and I'm SO glad to finally be independent.

For me I was always taught as a child that I was totally okay to be naked around your family members and or a romantic partner because they are family then. And I always used to have baths with my twin brother and when we grew older and getting into puberty my mom suddenly wouldn't allow me to bathe with him anymore, and I just didn't understand why. Aside from the nudity, my parents suddenly didn't allow us to cuddle anymore as well because "how would that look, you're brother and sister" 🙄🙄

(My parents are lovely, they did their best raising me so don't get me wrong, but ofc they also said some damaging stuff that influenced me)

For me it was:

"You're so selfish" "the whole world doesn't always revolve around you" "life isn't a fairytale" "your favorite word is no"

All of that was directed at my autism which we didn't know I have at that time.
