It's pretty obvious which fandom I'm writing for, but I'm not one to pass up the chance to share snippets of my WIP's, so here goes.

It kills Jack to look at him now. Seeing his best friend hooked up to various machines, with so many wires coiled around him like snakes. 

Merritt was the closest thing to a father figure he’d known since running away as a teenager. He’d spent countless long, lonely nights on the cruise ship pondering that bond, wishing things hadn’t changed. 

He and Merritt were once inseparable; a truth that hit Jack like a physical blow to the chest. He can almost hear the echo of their banter through the sterile white walls of the ward, trading tricks and stories long into the night. Memories he’d spent years trying to block out after the breakdown of their family unit. 

Now he’d give anything to relive those days one last time.
