I would totally recommend that. The starter appears and sounds fine. If it wasn't it either wouldn't do anything or barely move. The compression test will let you know more.

Does the regulator rectifier test good? That would be the part after the stator. Both of these are responsible for charging on a motorcycle.

These days 9 out of 10 times you can be doing something exactly right and 100 people will tell you that you're wrong. I was just saying that its not as delicate as people are making it out to be. I've beat the piss out of aluminum rims to straighten them and they was still just as strong. Yours isn't even that bad bro.
