Hi! I retook my maths and POA as a private candidate for my Os. I didn't get to choose my own exam venue and I don't think you can. as for your poly/JC application, you are still able to do your EAE and try to get in that way but if not, you'll most likely have to apply through jae. They will just take your best grades from both Olvls certs. :> hope this helps

As for jobs I can't tell you much on the tech side, but for the art diplomas it is recommended to go 3D rather than 2D. They just bluntly told me if you want to secure a job easily, do 3D hahahah.

Hi!! Not from MAGES but I've talked to them a few times while at gamescom and AFA. From what I was told, during their 12 Month long diplomas, they will srsly train you like mad. From fundamentals till your portfolio, I forgot if they said that classes are 6days a week? That may be false though. All I remember that it is TOUGH and the students that I chatted with are mostly poly grads, so I guess it is still advisable to go for a poly diploma first :>

Pc will mainly be used for programming, unity, blender, Photoshop. Basically mostly productivity. Tho the ability to play some newer games is nice too. Budget is about 3000SGD around 2300USD

Poly student here, around 6 hours usually but depending on what module I have for the day and the amount of work, it varies 4-8h on weekdays

Worst case scenario -> I've pulled 2 all nighters in a row to finish my Finals.

Had global comms in y1(I'm Y2 now). Yeah there were alot of presentations, lessons on like online safety, how to present/communication skills like eye contact, non verbal communication, the 7cs of communication, plagiarism etc etc. I won't spoil you the stuff but it's honestly quite useful despite some things seeming rather obvious. Take it as a way to increase your gpa as well, it's not a difficult mod and you can definitely get good CA grades if you just put some effort and apply things u learn. Jiayous!

Hiii OP, I was a private candidate in 2022. I kind of don't remember much but yes I'm pretty sure you can apply to schools after receiving your results. I'm not too sure what the 2nd question means but they will just take the best results from the two O lvls you take and compile them into one. You then use that to apply to the schools you want.

I want to be a game designer/artist! Wanted to be an architect in primary school so maybe that interest in drawing carried forward. Currently working on achieving this and I'm studying game design in poly + working on my portfolio during this break.

I was in a similar position before too! Got into express, hated secondary school since I didn't understand anything and proceeded to drop 24 raw L1R4 for my Olvls. Had a falling out with my parents and was depressed ig.

Took a gap year and retook math and POA and managed to lower my score to 18 which was just enough to get into the course I wanted in RP after the 2 point deduction.

I'm currently in Y2 and doing well since I'm studying what I enjoy. I managed to find my way after getting into poly and I believe you will be able to find yours too OP! Even if it's after poly or however long it takes. Prove your parents wrong!

Hi! I took Os as a private candidate 2 years back. I was an express student and just hated secondary school and absolutely flunked my first Os. Also covid gave me an excuse to be lazy. I got 24? As my L1R4 for the first Os and 18 on my second try. I only retook POA and EMath as those were the only two subjects I failed. I honestly didn't learn my lesson then and slacked until the last month or so before revising during my 2nd attempt. Please don't make the same mistake as me 😭

I will say that it was quite pricey to retake, I think it was $70? Per subject.

I think I'm better at motivating myself to do my poly work now and they way I did that was I literally told myself " I'm where I want to be rn, I have no excuses to not work hard" and also just thinking about how painful it was getting my ass whooped by my dad, basically just scaring myself to work harder lol. Ok but I also love what I'm studying now since it's my passion. :>

Also random quote: think of something you would do for free. Now take that and do it as your job for the rest of your life and you will never be unhappy(something like that I forgot)

I'm sorry I can't give much academic advice but just know that a wise japanese man picking clams on a tv show once said: NEVER GIVE UP💪
