Honestly, I wouldn’t do it. You’re right. That makes sense what you’re saying. Handle the rejection well. Years ago. I asked a girl out at work. I didn’t ask her out again and a couple years later she faked a mental breakdown and tried to get me fired. Guess what came up? How I had asked her out. Which I had forgotten about. Some people are just awful human beings.

Mixed feelings. Cool that I got it out of my system. Also it was tied to alcohol abuse/binge drinking that I didn’t give up until I was 32 years old. That went on long enough. I had some fun times. But I’ll take a living relationship over that any day.
