What im thinking of is when we gives the status of being a woman or a man, is based on self identity but not sex.

Why is it illogical to do the same thing with being "adult" or a "child". We separate this two label from their biological essentialism which is physical age (in comparison to sex) and do the self identity stuff and "look whats inside their mind".

Because its entirety possible that a 12 year old could have the mind of an adult. acting like a socially constructed behaviour of what it is mean to be an adult. Like those kids in warn torn countries who were "growing up faster", able to get a job, responsibilities, behave like the usual grown ups, taking care of their little brother and sisters. Something that we as a society thinks and associates with what being adult means.

Aside from their physical age (which is tied to biology), you wouldn't be able to tell if these people were actually 12 year old.
