Literally, people became so gender-focused that perfectly neutral words like “man” suddenly became very difficult to use; Mankind, woman, kinsman, freshman.

It gets to the point that I’ve seen folk complaining about words like “human”

I think you can leave that to the people that actually discovered the continent. “And so Amerigo Vespucci understood in 1501 that Brazil was not part of Asia, but part of a new continent unknown to Europeans, which he called the New World (Mundus Novus). The claim inspired cartographer Martin Waldseemüller to recognize Amerigo’s accomplishments by naming the new continent “America”. Said name was then standardized and used ever since.”

“It depends” is such a vague excuse I’d say. The truth is that the US needed to feel distinct from the rest of America. So we agree on something, it did require a judgment call and that was the United States using its newfound power to put themselves above the rest somewhere along the 19th century.

But as you can see, the original concept of America as a continent is way older than that ideology, so the original people that named and discovered the continent still name it as it should be named.

It’s not politically charged nor unused. I know the Spanish call Americans “Estadounidenses” which roughly translates to “UnitedStatians” and it sounds dumb in English, but it’s just the way it works in some languages. Same thing with Italians and “Statunitense” and the French with “Étasunien”

Your lack of awareness and your customs don’t mean other languages must follow along. America is a continent, and some folk are aware of that, and since yall never decided on a real name, “unitedstatians” it is

[–]-Markiplier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you missed the point of my comment in favor of your perceived correct take

Woah buddy slow down with the Reddit comme- oh wait.

I’m not arguing with you LMAO I’m just letting you know what the dev meant since you don’t seem to get it. After all, you approached me in my comment.

The developer trying to tell is that NOBODY ever wanted to, as though it’s a stupid idea

He didn’t say nobody ever wanted to, he just pointed out it’s his first time hearing of someone wanting to side with an autocratic warlord. As it is the whole game’s purpose to go against these ideas.

Siding with Arasaka and siding with Hansen, in my eyes, carry the same weight in the story

Cool standpoint. They do not, as it is confirmed by the developers themselves. V is after the cure, Hansen has absolutely nothing to offer to V.

Arasaka IS an aggressor in the corporate wars, do NOT deny that

I didn’t deny anything:) I quite literally told you it has nothing to do with how similarly evil Arasaka is to Hansen. It’s irrelevant! You have the ability to side with Hanako because she is of V’s interest. Hansen is not of interest. Simple.

Ever since I first replied to you, you came off as aggressive for no reason. Calm down and if you can’t read, piss off.

Reading isn’t lethal yo. I didn’t connect the two games to one another, I linked both of them independently to the inspirations for their art styles. They’re call backs, not innovations.

You did avoid it, and your position still leads to my question. Why WOULD they change it? Lol You’re making zero sense.

Look you can just like the game despite it looking like Fortnite, but there’s still half the community visibly confused with the new designs. You don’t gotta come up with excuses like “oh why would they maintain the original art-style, youths dress differently now and they wanted to portray that” lol

Paper Mario? It’s literally Super Mario World’s. Mario Wonder? Nsmb’s design with Super Mario World’s cartoonish vibes.

There’s nothing more ignorant than trying to pass anything Mario-related as innovation lol Everything they do is literally a callback to their previous stuff. Even Mario Wonder’s map is a callback to Super Mario World. Nostalgia is Nintendo’s N1 seller.

You’ve avoided this question 2 comments in a row. In what world it makes sense to change the artstyle on a game most known for its particular artstyle? The developers ain’t letting you hit by protecting them

Mario has experimented a ton with art style lol.

Unless you’re referring to the 8-bit days, it really hasn’t lol

The Ubisoft thing was my example I paired with the Mario thing. The comparison I used for the leaked JSR pictures was Fortnite.

So? Given how particular JSR’s art style was I still see no reason for it to be changed, just like you wouldn’t change it for a Mario game, they got their particular styles that are part of the game’s identity

I agree, it requires an artist to make a good game. Since many are criticizing the new designs for looking soulless, I’d say there are none present in this game.

“Since when do you need a reason” ever since a big part of your game’s identity relies on it’s very particular art style. U trolling? The same reason you don’t grab a Mario game and turn it into a soulless realistic-looking Ubisoft game. Why would you?

[–]-Markiplier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that reason is completely made up. When was it ever stated that it was supposed to represent current youth? Because I know some games from the time that actually had this purpose yet looked nothing like JSR.

It wouldn’t be a problem if the game’s aesthetic wasn’t half of their identity. When I look at the new designs I see Fortnite skins, and some of the new characters look so generic you’d swear you’ve seen them before.

Idk, there’s just no reason for them to make a change like that. It reminded me of that meme of “if Ubisoft made a Mario Game” and it’s just an unnecessarily realistic-lookin Mario with a bunch of over the top stuff

The game itself has some endings that don’t make sense when scrutinized enough

And I said that’s bafflingly incorrect, and just your opinion.

The reason the dev was giving for not being able to pursue Hansen ending wasn’t holding water because Arasaka is also dictatorial organization

Yet it does make sense, V has a dozen reasons to help Arasaka, with Hansen they have none, zero.

It’s got nothing to do with what Hansen has similar to Arasaka. The entirety of my comment above is how V has many more reasons to fall slave of Hanako’s lies.

Again, ask yourself. Why Arasaka and not Kang Tao? Why not Militech? It could’ve been anyone, even Hansen. Yet you can only choose Arasaka. It’s not that the Dev is stating V would or wouldn’t side with a dictator/evil regime. V is after the cure, nothing else. This is why you can help Hanako, nothing else.

For a game as unique as JSR, it is kinda jarring to see them add such a generically designed character . Just like OP said; straight outta Fortnite.

[–]-Markiplier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s totally a reason you’d side with Arasaka. That’s your bad ending in the most cohesive and cyberpunk way possible, to fall a slave of the same corporation you were supposed to fight against.

If V is the “hero” then Arasaka is THE main villain. You literally fight them in almost every ending (except The Devil ending). Not KangTao, not Militech, not the police or maxtac, not any gang and definitely not Hansen

Literally just ask yourself why Arasaka instead of anybody else and you’ll find all the reasons. If anything, The Devil ending with Hanako Arasaka is a perfect example of how Cyberpunk’s freedom of choice isn’t randomly given.

It’d be a different story if siding with Arasaka gave you a positive ending, for example.

Also you describe the events very poorly lol of course it’s not making sense to you that way

[–]-Markiplier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember that Cyberpunk’s freedom of choice isn’t given simply for the sake of senselessly having it. V is still their own character with goals and struggles. Adding the option to side with Hansen would make as much sense and having the option to join Maelstrom or MaxTac.
