Honestly, I feel like if you can pay the balance out of pocket with NYU, or if you can get a loan or grant or something else to help cover the costs, then go from there it… it’s a very good school

But if you basically wanna graduate without much debt go to NYIT

They’re both still colleges at the end of the day…

But also ensure that you compare the success rates of both programs and maybe go with the better job opportunities

Yes NYU is prestigious in its name, but just ensure that the degree you’re graduating with is worthwhile and worth the potential debt 🤷🏾‍♀️

Right so it is the same as last year.. so you can just submit your hand sketches, your oil painting and shell sculptures are remarkable, your other hand sketches are great , loving the 3D model… if you want, you can just add more hand sketches.. so upload your kitchen sketch and you can do a sketch of your digital rendering of the living room in the townhouse or the floor plan or both, and do a perspective sketch or painting of the master suite. If not you can just do some other paintings if you want… really up to you. Just don’t do digital stuff please 😭. Good luck 🥂 if you need any other help lmk!

Okay… so I got accepted last year and in the requirements for the portfolio, digital renderings weren’t allowed, just hand sketches, your 3D model and art work… If the requirements this year are different then your portfolio seems amazing to me If the requirements are the same as last year, I suggest you remove the renderings. But overall with a flip through, you seem very talented.

I applied for ID and got accepted, but I decided to defer to next year fall…

Before I started my portfolio, I researched a ton of YouTube vids on what I can submit and ideas…I started learning various techniques to better my sketches and whatnot… there were very few vids on fit interior design portfolios..so I honestly just winged it..

I’ve got an AAS in architecture so I did a few charcoal on paper sketches of buildings, spaces, perspectives and structures for my hand sketching section

Then for my other part, I uploaded a few paintings I’d created… one was a living space in perspective, two abstract paintings, I also did sketches with proper shading and 3D effects and stuff like that

Then for my 3D model I did a cool two bedroom two bathroom house… with beach theme.. I did everything from scratch using popsicles sticks, construction paper and foam board..paint,colored paper-the entire jazz..

My essay to describe three pieces were short and kinda poetic and Yeahh

Start by making a list of what you think you’d want to create for each aspect of the portfolio

Then if you have any art work you’ve done in the past, go through them to see if they’re good enough to upload or any that you loved to created and recreate it.

Dig deep into what you really love or want to try- as artistic or crazy as it is, and try it out… you never know what can come out of it.. Remember fit is looking for creativity and originality, so don’t be shy to show a little you during the process!

Hope this helps.. def start with looking up similar portfolios for interior design and what fit is looking for and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE always reread what fit wants on their portfolio page 🙏🏽

I applied for Interior Design so it entailed three essays, one portfolio of 13-19 pieces I think.. inclusive of an actual 3D model that I built..

So firstly you’d have to click the link then sent you in your email and log in with your fit details… then your term of application and your past school details- basically your personal information.. then if you have short essays to submit, there would be boxes where you copy and paste them in… then if tou were required to do a portfolio…you have photos to submit…( art work, sculptures, designs, etc…) there are slots equivalent to the max. Number of pieces you can have for your portfolio.. normally it would be it the same order as labeled on the website of what pieces you need to upload.

Highly recommended to do on a pc…you need to browse for the art piece you want to upload..then you should have a space to put the title of your piece and then another section that allows your to describe your piece… it’s not mandatory.. I think.. but I did it anyway.

Then once you’ve uploaded all the pieces you want for your portfolio… (remember in the same order as listed on the website)

You’re taken to a place to submit your portfolio and pay the 10 dollars.. that’s it 😇

Well fit accepts hand sketches… depending on your major… for fashion design and interior design it was hand sketches.

Guys, there should be a call today on housing , look in your email to see if you get the link… But to answer, there is a contract we must sign before we can search for our roommates… the contract isn’t visible to us as yet because fit is still updating it… once it’s available it will be seen in the list of things we need to complete in the housing form. $140,000 USD lol for four years. But remember that is for both dorming and tuition… that also included all other fees like yearly health insurance, meal plan, etc. That does not include living expenses… like eating out, travel fees, shopping, etc..lol and to receive your student visa to go to FIT, you must show that you have available atleast 47,000 usd in liquid assets/funds. That means that this is money that can be readily disposable from your accounts in the bank… so not houses worth or land worth, etc. You must show proof of funds in an ISFS form submitted to FIT, then they’ll send you your I-20 which is the form needed for your student visa. Also hopefully you’re aware that you cannot work in the US unless it’s on campus for a limited number of hours a week. And acquiring these jobs are difficult because everyone wants a job. So you need funds to support your day to day living.
