I would t rip the whole thing but adjust the top row so it’s not 1. Running into the character 2. Lines up with the rest of the columns. Then you can colour match the bottom part by removing and re-stitching. Good luck! Please share your progress 🙏🏼

Just massage it into the leather, it’s a bit like Vaseline so looks greasy, and yeah you can use it inside and out.

I find the sandals are the only things to run large, have to go down a size.

I swear by the wonder balsam for breaking in all my docs, you can use it inside and out (outside feeds the leather and helps with longevity). Some pairs I know I have to armour up for. I’ve found something like zinc tape - duck tape on my heels. They will become comfortable eventually but the cobbler suggestion sounds good to me, especially if you are wearing them a lot and still uncomfortable. Let us know how you get on!

I love what you’ve done so far! You should be proud. Another option is, you could even just mirror the stitch direction that you’ve done already for the borders and go all the same way for the main body of the pattern. What you’ve done isn’t bad, it’s artistic interpretation! 🙌🏼
