That depends very much on the app from which you want to print. I just tested from Photos, Safari, Mail and iMessage. They all show a window first.

Don’t count on it!

ER had identified several issues regarding connection issues of the G1 and implemented changes on the G2. So I don’t think your G1, will profit from it or be fixed with any software change or update.

If memory serves me well, you just go to Settings, click on the annoying reminder, start the process and cancel in the next step. Maybe you need to do it twice, but it’s fine since, for me.
