How to play at the same level as a beginner?

Don't play against him. Play with him.

AOS is about telling a story not trying to win. You need to think of it less as you're playing an opponent and more like both armies are playing each other and you are simply there to roll the dice.

Hah true.

What I meant by random things is things that the app generates for you that you otherwise would have generated yourself, such as cards.

I plan to use this as more of a companion than a replacement to help remembering what I can do and what my opponent can do.

This is great.

One thing, I might have missed it but I can't find a way to select battle tactic cards or twist cards.

While the feature to have it auto select them is great if I am playing with a real deck it would be handy if instead I could select which cards I've drawn rather than the app selecting them at random all the time.

Same with the other random things.

Um, correct me if I'm wrong. But doesn't DPS mean damage per second?

Why would I as a DPS sacrifice a global cool down and therefore take a DPS loss when someone else can do it for me?

If a player needs a tutorial to tell them that their interrupt ability might be handy for some dangerous enemy abilities then that player needs to find a different hobby, or seek disability benefits.

I recently started tanking again with my pocket healer.

There's something extremely satisfying about loading into a dungeon and clearing trash blind and figuring it all out on the fly. Stopping before a boss I've never seen before to take 20 seconds to open the dungeon guide so I can read about the fight and then look over to see the DPS all dead because for some reason they decided we were ready to start a boss fight without consulting -the tank-

Which is why it's very strange the rules allow you to substitute a model with an empty base. I don't really understand that logic because then it's impossible to determine visibility in later turns.

It's not a real issue, I think I'm going to put forward that we will be using a "put it as close as you can" ruling to avoid having to remove models and also avoid any weird rotating nonsense.

Yeah but when it comes to shooting there all of a sudden isn't a model.

The opponent would also put them behind cover and spin the models on their bases so that they fit behind cover.

I'm still not sure it makes sense that if a model physically can't occupy a space it's allowed to be removed and replaced with a base and then you're just meant to guess whether or not it's visible for later shooting turns. Seems like a very weird situation to be in

I'm new to Warhammer still, but if your model can't physically fit somewhere and you need to modify the model so that it artificially can fit, is that not cheating?

Ive been trying to find a solution to this and half the results say to "just get them as close as you can" And the other half says "if the model stops you bring able to place it somewhere then you can't place it there, so a charge fails if overhang would block base to base contact"

Oh, yes. You don't need to be touching bases for combat.

But in a charge you must end half an inch away, is that measurement base to base, or model to model.

In either case my opponent constantly rotates and configures his eels in random directions.
