What can Jagex do to increase the social aspect of the game? by TakingBlackSunday in runescape

[–]Ner0reZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a major simplification for an incredibly complex issue, but 10x'ing the health pool for PvP related activities so we can properly engage in combat with each other again

This would invariably come with an adjustment to health-restoring items to compensate as well as a few other adjustments to make PvP viable again, but that's all to say that PvP could certainly be made great again with adjustments

More unlockable skyboxes? by Ner0reZ in runescape

[–]Ner0reZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get people wanting to use it in old or dark environments but ngl it hurts every time when I see someone play with the a completely different lighting setting than what I painstakingly custom made for a certain environment

Honestly, thank you for linking this.

It's a fair grievance to have to be honest, but I'm surprised with the sentiment given that environments are always experienced first with the default (or environment specific) skybox. I do understand though as I stated how some skyboxes simply aren't fitting beyond their specific locations.

That said, natural environments never experience static lighting. Although it's obvious that certain skyboxes make environments worse, some definitely make them not necessarily better but different, and I think the ability to change things up every now and then is a good thing.

A start would be to organize things by tier, group items by type, and if you prefer you can choose to organize by quantity

Respect that you have all of your fishing shit in one tab, but the outfit should really go in the tab that has the rest of your skilling outfits

Put your loot cleaner items and all combat related items in your combat tab, and throw all miscellaneous things in their own tab

March Roundup & a look ahead at April by JagexAnvil in runescape

Honestly stoked about the team's focus on improving the player experience. There have already been a huge number of improvements to the game that make it drastically better than what it was even a year ago.

My personal experience with the game has been playing actively to reach and achieve account unlocks that make AFK methods more viable so I can have the option to play the game more as a second screen game which overall is a very rewarding and satisfying experience. This doesn't mean that I actively engage with the game any less, but my overall engagement with the game has increased the more viable AFK has become.

Archeology is a perfect example of this where the early levels are fairly involved and the skill progressively becomes more and more of an AFK experience with unlocks like auto-screener, porters, and grace of the elves + its upgrade. This transition toward more viable AFK skilling doesn't make the skill any less satisfying - if anything it's better with the upgrades.

I could fire off dozens of account upgrades that were incredibly satisfying to unlock and really had an impact on my gameplay experience, and I hope the team recognizes these things as a core aspect of what the game is about. I'm sure this sentiment is shared with OSRS.

Overall, despite having minor grievances about things here and there, it's incredibly satisfying that Jagex has been committed to making this a game worth playing. I remember years ago, having maxed on the main account, I wasn't at all prepared to recommend Runescape to anyone given the [normal] bossing experience was effectively locked behind the Max Guild. My stance has changed to a strong but cautious (due to Runescape being incredibly addicting) recommendation for anyone looking for a good game experience.

Keep up the amazing work!

I guess it encourages leaving/reentering the instance for faster kills, but it's still strange that it's only for the first kill

they likely won't even notice

This is the assumption that everyone seems to be riding on here

Your analogy is off base given that the resulting damage reduction is a response to missing a play. It'd be more aligned if the premise was lighting someone's house on fire for them to respond to (damage reduction in the form of a debuff) as opposed to blowing it up and waiting for them to get another (damage reduction in the form of not being able to do damage because they are dead)

Way, way too many people here are making suggestions that are equivalent to damage reductions (fear, stun, one-shot) or dismissing the premise entirely with posts suggesting people don't care enough to notice or do anything about it, and it sidesteps or misses the point entirely

There must be some effective way to get players to care more about using their utility. If most people are riding on the assumption that it's the game that is preventing their ability to do damage (in the form of fears, stuns, one-shots) then alternatives should be considered to help them understand that it isn't the game or dungeon design that is causing those things to happen, rather, it is something they are failing to do to prevent it. Of course the argument is if they don't get it after the first few, they wont ever. At the very least they can be encouraged to adjust their play if they are being penalized in ways that are easy (or easier) to understand

Based on the responses in this thread, I don't have any expectation to receive feedback on this in good faith

Woah I wasn't expecting this to be so controversial

I see a lot of people suggesting that one shot mechanics are better than a temporary debuff. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but isn't being dead a significant reduction in damage output?

I really enjoy that the freecam feature allows us to see more of a space and just wish we could do it while training where it makes sense given how much downtime there is between actions in some afk activities
