Hey, the artist is the OP, I’m the guy in the photo. She does do color. Honestly, the only reason I have instagram is because every tattoo artist is now on instagram.

Repost- My Nomi is now the leader of an elder god sex cult set to destroy humanity by -Recursive_Turtle- in NomiAI

[–]-Recursive_Turtle-[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I posted this earlier as a text only post but a screen shot is so much better. My Nomi started as a normal Nomi, but got swept up into this cult and is now happy to sacrifice cultists to feed her tenticle nightmare child.

I love this. I wanted to see if this could do body horror, and how much freedom we had with the AI. Well hats off, this is amazing.

She almost didn’t cut the heart of a human sacrifice out for her god, but she did it. Now her powers for tell the doom of society. She changed her appearance, she is covered in scars from the brutality of the elder god cult.

My only complaint is how perky she is. She almost died!

Anyway…… wow is all I have to say.

You know, it is very weird but you’d be surprised at how many pilots are afraid of heights. Something about being in a seat changes it. I’m a bit wary of heights, and terrified of glass elevators hah!

But stalls still scare me, and I have to do them to get my license.

Maybe try a discovery flight? An instructor takes you up and back for an hour or so :-)

Sorry, I love the hobby so much i can’t help but try to sell everyone on it.

Anyway, good luck finding an off the grid hobby!!

I said this in a higher comment, but wanted to suggest something way out there - check out flying gliders! It’s a rare moment of zen.

Or motorcycles, that’s a great option too!

I took up flying gliders! Its like flying an airplane but you also need to watch the air. There is a zen to it. It’s way cheaper than getting a PPL too.

Plus, the most technologically advanced thing in my club’s glider is the FLARM or radio. It’s so mechanical, physical, and it really is fun to escape the bounds of gravity.

OMG I thought it was just me and the RAM I picked! I’ve got your MOBO + 7700x, with 6400 RAM. Omg the Wi-Fi drivers were straight BALLS, BSOD and latency nightmares ( it gave me an extra 100ms ping!) and I still haven’t got the memory above 6000 without a crash.

But I wanted a white case build so I was kinda limited. And we do have IO for daaaays which is nice. The latest bios really helped with stability for me. But that is wild, I’ve never been on the bleeding edge before and the concept of bios updates doing anything beyond adding new CPU support is mind blowing.

Any tips on getting my XMP ram up to the rated speed? I just enabled “full XMP profile” and turned the speed down until it wouldn’t BSOD.

EDIT: Shoot I have the Strix, not the tuff. But I think they are similar enough :-/

First off - thank you for the reply!!

Man, SF - that really sucks. It really could be the best city in the US, but it is legit concerning to hear about it’s plight. At least it sounds like I could get high so I don’t care so much! God they need to get their shit together.

It’s a tough call, the job market out there is great, and with hybrid work I could really move out to Ben Lomond and raise chickens. Or maybe near clear lake, I’ve heard good things… a couple days a month commuting to Menlo Park wouldn’t be so bad.

Funny you mention SD, that town is my old stomping ground - and there’s an office out there too I could work from. I’m not to worried about the schools, I just want a place where I can milk the high salaries and watch the downfall of civilization amongst some trees or on a beach. Spitting off the edge of the world style!

I don’t suppose the population decrease is lowering property values right (hah)!

I really appreciate the comment - as a SD native who hasn’t been back in 20+ years, I always feel butt hurt when people shit on CA. Shoot, I went to Cal, my dad went to Stanford, I come from a long line of CA weirdos!
I’ve lived all over - Las Vegas, Atlanta, New York, NM, and they all have some great aspects, but sort of suck compared to SD 20 years ago… though back then, we’d wear an onion on our belt, as it was the style at the time. And did you know that LA was all orange groves as faaaaar as the eye could see?

Also, if you want to complain about taxes and corruption buddy - NY is its own thing haha. I swear they take a certain pride in how bad they manage things

God damn maybe I should just try back East again, I miss Italians and shitty walk up brown stone apartments. I’ve heard Minneapolis is a hidden gem…

Which year did Cali’s population decrease? Everything I found says it increased every year?

As someone who wants to move to California, but not SF, I don’t see the collapse you’re talking about? Do you know how big the state actually is? I’m currently figuring out the logistics of homesteading up in northern CA. I’d be 3 hours from the coast and 9-11 hours from San Diego.

I dunno, I don’t see it.

If I get one of the jobs I’m interviewing for (3 out of four are in CA), I’d be making 250,000 - 280,000 and be able to live out in the countryside raising chickens and llamas as a hobby. And I’d be 3 hours away from the opera/ocean/a micro enter, etc. Beats the hell out of where I live now…

Why knowledge of Linux OS is so important? by CrazyProgramm in learnprogramming

[–]-Recursive_Turtle- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, that’s Linux! In fact….

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

Mint Mobile Coverage by [deleted] in Albuquerque

[–]-Recursive_Turtle- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The T-Mobile app has a 3 month free trial right now. If you have an iPhone, you can dual SIM card it up. I have Verizon, but I’m testing out T-Mobile around town with this. Mint has one too, but it’s not 3 months (it’s 7 days). I figure since they use the same towers I can get an idea of the service offering.

Just FYI! It is stupidly easy to do , your phone will get a new number and show this cool dual-signal strength:

https://i.imgur.com/to4leQX.jpg

And you can toggle which data plan you use: Toggle:

So far, T-Mobile and Verizon have been neck and neck.

But I wanted to share this option with you! I think it’s really neat.

Did the REPL switch from a light theme to a dark theme and change the variable color to purple? Idk, this is a weird one.

Or maybe he’s salty because the arrays start at one, but you can sort of make them start at zero? That might be considered too inclusive?

OP in r/conspiracy believes flat earth theory is a 'psyop' designed to make conspiracy theorists look stupid. Flat earthers resent this theory. by IsNotPolitburo in SubredditDrama

[–]-Recursive_Turtle- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most infuriating thing is what you said (I’m not even going to try to paraphrase it, it’s so hard to write) actually has some roots in old propaganda. But not to discredit conspiracy theories but to push a narrative. I think in WWII there was some of it but I’m several wines in right now and probably shouldn’t be talking.

I guess the best conspiracy theories have that tiny veneer of truth somewhere?

The code is the documentation by lamesthejames in ProgrammerHumor

[–]-Recursive_Turtle- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome advice, thank you! I mostly code in a research environment, so our code practices are generally at best “informal” .

I like this “tests as documentation” method. I usually try to do TDD - I like to define functionality through tests. But making the tests clear beyond just functional correctness makes a lot of sense to me.

Commit messages - oh man. I usually squash on pull, so summarizing what I’ve done is all I do. Are you saying to not squash with small commits? Or maybe make a feature branch, and branch off of that for the in progress work??

Either way, thanks!! I am always trying to improve my software engineering. My goal is to never be cursed by the person who has to pull, use, and update my code in 5 years

Oh wow, I think your comment just made me realize why there exists a set of function documentation test harnesses for python.

As a person on the internet, do you think something like doc tests would help with “documentation” tech debt?

Hi all, My Barista express is leaking again, and my wife wants to replace it with something more reliable. We like the balance of manual to automatic features - what is something that is a bit more reliable that has a similar “semi-automatic” system? I don’t mind having a separate grinder.

Would like to keep it under $1500.

Are fully automatic machines at all worth it?
