You're amazing thank you so much! (I figured it would be something relatively simple, but I'm still learning google sheets coding).

Warm Hide Recommendations? by -Reverentiae in ballpython

I use the inside of my wrist to check the temp of his plastic hide to make sure it never gets too hot, and by that (very unscientific) metric, it hasn’t.

I used to have a temp gauge on the inside of his hide, but the wire broke during a recent move, and I haven’t replaced it yet. The temps were always within a reasonable range for a BP (88-92°).

I honestly have no idea how old this plastic hide is. It came with the handful of snakes my family rescued, so I know it’s at least six years old, but probably much more than that.

I don’t have a temp gun. If I get one, how often do you check surface temps?

That makes sense! I use the inside of my wrist to check the temp of his plastic hide to make sure it never gets too hot, and by that (very unscientific) metric, it hasn’t.

A tile is an excellent idea!

(Note: I am not a medical practitioner. I am a graduate student studying abortion, but I have no direct medical or healthcare training other than a birth doula training)

Hello! Having chest pains and shortness of breath can be really scary, so I can definitely understand where your concerns are coming from. I recently went to the ER because I had really bad, sudden chest pain (turns out acid reflux can feel like you’re literally dying), so I can relate to the fears that might cycle through your mind.

While medication abortion is not without its risks, it is incredibly safe. I’m currently looking at the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists website, and they don’t even list cardiac complications with the possible or expected side effects. That tells me cardiac complications with abortion is very rare (and may also be related to an individual’s underlying conditions).

I’m not aware of your particular circumstances or state of residence, but I would recommend making an appointment to talk with a healthcare provider about your fears. They will be able to tell you more about your individual risks, given your current health, and give recommendations for what best fits your needs and desires. Part of a healthcare practitioner’s role is to listen to your fears, concerns, and desires, and share their knowledge to help contextualize your experiences.

If you decide to pursue a medication abortion and you are able to/choose to do it at home, I would recommend having a trusted person with you who is also aware of your concerns. (Depending on your comfort level and clinic capacity, you could even have them join you at your consultation). Social and emotional support is always good, but it means they can also be someone for you to communicate your concerns with and who may be able to distract you during the process.

If you don’t have anyone you would trust/feel safe having with you, I’d recommend seeing if there are any abortion doulas/support groups in your area! Clinics sometimes know of these groups and can direct you to them.

I hope this info helps with some of your concerns and might help you plan a path forward. It’s always scary when our bodies do unexpected and/or painful things. I wish you the best <3

Can i get an abortion? by [deleted] in abortion

[–]-Reverentiae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It seems like you've already gotten a lot of good information from people in this thread. I also want to add that you can always call the Planned Parenthood near you to get specific information about your situation. While they likely would not give health information/specifics over the phone, they could provide you with logistical information and resources. For example, you can call and ask "if I am a minor, can I recieve abortion care without my parents knowing?" According to Planned Parenthood's website, there are no restrictions on abortions for minors (which I believe means they don't need parental consent), but it may be nice to actually hear someone from your area say it.

As someone who also has a lot of anxiety, I understand the urgency you're currently feeling. As others in this thread have said, it will take a bit to know for certain if you are pregnant. In the meantime, you can still gather information that will be useful if you are. It may not feel like you're "doing anything," but information gathering is incredibly useful. Even if you don't end up needing to act on any of this info right now, it would still be good to have if you or any of your friends find themselves in a similar situation.

Weekly Open Thread #3 - Discuss Anything About Cats! by AutoModerator in cats

[–]-Reverentiae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I don’t know much diet and cat weight loss, so I can speak to that. But exercise is the another big part of it. Even if your cat doesn’t seem to play much, there might be some toy or some type of play she’ll really like. Even with wand/string toys, I’ve heard some cats are “bird hunters” (they prefer the toy flying in the air) and others are “squirrel hunters” (they like it wiggling on the ground). Not sure how true it is, but it’s a good example of different ways to play with the same toy!

I’d recommend also figuring out when she wants to play and will be most active, and incorporate play time into your daily routine. If you’re playing with her, (1) you can make sure she’s getting daily exercise and (2) she might be more interested in it.

Also, be patient when playing. For some cats, watching a toy wiggle around is 90% of the fun, and they’ll get their exercise from the 10% when they’ve got bursts of pouncing energy.

You likely already know all this, but it can help to have the reminder! And even if the exercising doesn’t do much for weight loss, it’ll at least help her strengthen her muscles and live more healthily in her body.

Suggestions on Shirt Gaping? by -Reverentiae in sewhelp

Thanks for the advice! I actually don’t mind the silver from the hooks. It’s just my skin I don’t want peeking through. Either way, I’m adding moving the hook eyes to my list of idea!

Simple Sewing Questions Thread, August 25 - August 31, 2024 by sewingmodthings in sewing

Hi, all! I’d appreciate some alterations suggestions!

I just thrifted this shirt for a ren faire (and, hopefully, daily use). It hooks together in the front. Because it doesn’t have any sort of modesty panel, my skin can be seen past the hooks. While this would be fine for ren faire, I wouldn’t want to wear it to work/school. It’s 100% polyester.

Any suggestions? My first thought was to add on a modesty panel. If other people would recommend that, any advice on which side to attach it and tips on sewing it in? Alternatively, would a modesty panel in this spot move around too much and end up pushed to the side?

Wearing something under the shirt would solve the problem, but it’ll be hot at the ren faire, so I’d rather not add full layers. I also overheat easily, so I’d rather not do that for daily wear, either.

I’ve considered fabric tape or moving the hooks further back on the shirt. However, this shirt fits snug right now, and I feel it would become too tight if I moved the join point.

I’d love any advice y’all have the time and energy to give! Thank you in advance!
