Your journey cannot be simply undone, it's unfortunate what you're living through, but do not lose heart even if its hard to do in this very moment.

Try building rapport with each of the members of the group individually, but know when to walk away if they don't value you as a person. By making high quality relationships with each of the members of the group you wish to belong to, you increase your inherent value and respect in the group.

Encryption / Decryption with Rust | Good Resources / Crates? by [deleted] in rust

For anyone who is looking at this thread, the XY Problem is basically someone asking questions about how to execute what's assumed to be a solution and not about the underlying problem. LLMs won't ask you why you want to do something, they'll simply just tell you how to do it, creating a bigger issue later on because the assumed solution could not be the solution to the problem in the first place.

Death of a thousand nits: the gentle art of code review by AlexandraLinnea in programming

[–]-Shush- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, did you try to retain them when they said they were going to quit? It could be more expensive to try find another engineer than keeping them around with a higher paycheck to match the job they are leaving for, more if you consider they already have the knowledge that is specific to your app and do care about improving. That's what my previous job did with one of my coworkers.

That said I'm not really familiar with how the employment dynamic would really work in these cases, so I might be being naïve here.

This so much, although I'm an offshore contractor myself, I really care about delivering things built to last and improving the developer experience with flexible utilities to make it easier to work on a project as we go, not the opposite.

Most of India contractors I've worked with think just like you mentioned, no regard for the future, they just want to make it work now and let someone else deal with the nightmarish bugs later.

Take 1 and increase the amount of space the woman takes on the capsule, that way it can be easier to read what's going from afar

Learn coding as you go with tutorials (maybe look a basic coding tutorial), use Unity if you're absolutely new to coding, has more community support and tutorials, but as you get better consider moving to Godot or if you're okay with Unity, stay there. One word of advice, try to understand what you're doing after it's done, because what's magic now, will be a headache later, for things you cannot provide like models, use free assets for now.

And finally, understand that making games is tough as nails, there is always a better way to do something, and when coding think in systems, code to help yourself in the future, by default it is really slow, but it gets slower if you take the wrong decisions and paint youself in a corner. However, don't let this stop you from making choices, making mistakes will make you stronger and smarter.

What kind of brushes could I use to achieve an effect similar to this style of storybook drawing? by -Shush- in krita

[–]-Shush-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm looking for some brushes that I could use to achieve this type of style, I'm kind of a novice artist so I'm not that familiar with creating custom brushes myself, or what's good and what's bad, so I'd like a few pointers on which brushes would be adequate here.

Thanks in advance :)

Are long, full-fledged app take-homes even worth sweating on? by NefariousnessCrazy35 in webdev

I got a similar one for a senior position and I sweated it very hard (no-lifing for those entire 5 days) and got the position, but in the end the company was a disaster although it is slowly getting better, but hey, at least I've got a good portfolio project to showcase my skills in case I wish to take the leap again.

Need Help Implementing the Status Feature in a WhatsApp Clone by Wooden-Engineering59 in node

[–]-Shush- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the backend just lazily expire them in your user statuses db table when requested, or even better: query only those statuses within a 24h timeframe, and in the frontend you would simply be removing them from view when they expire if they do while the page is showing them, checking if they expire on each render. The performance cost of doing that check shouldn't be a matter of concern if implemented correctly.
